Quin has lost his mind

TBF, MJs career high in FTA/game for a season (11.9) is higher than Harden’s (11.0) but I agree.
Yeah but how many more FTs would MJ have had if they called a foul every time someone lightly brushed against him, like they do for harden? MJ did it in the era of hard fouls and body up defenses. In today's world of hands-off defense I wager MJ would be in the 15+ range of FT per game. Harden is a fantastically skilled player taking full advantage of the current rules. He would be great in any era but no where near as great in an era where players were actually allowed to touch him.

David Locke said a few days ago that over the past summer coach snyder was "focused" and "had developed" a plan to stop Houston. Lmao. Snyder is worshiped by the local media. The SLC sports media is so soft on its teams... Other cities are absolutely ruthless toward their teams if they suck.

Rockets was nv going to be easy, but if you start the games missing multiple open shots and turning the ball over unnecessarily, not much the coach can do, we just need more offensive talent who can shoot 3s decently (not jae crowder type of guy who turns up once every five games)
That is part of the problem but I cannot remember a series where there has been such a strategic imbalance. A lot of that is due to personel but quin is getting his *** kicked too.

Jazz can't hit. Rockets can't miss.

This comes down to who shows up, not what you're capable of. John and Karl just missed their shots too or am I missing something?
Rockets can't miss because we are giving them easy open looks. Jazz can't hit because the rockets are making most of their shots really difficult. Strategic mismatch.

Even when they missed, the got the loose ball. They're just physically stronger and faster, to a man. I remember this same issue last year. I was hoping it would be addressed in the offseason, apparently the emphasis was to get leaner, and go on jr. jazz tours. Makes me wonder what really were the goals this past offseason. For a team that is trying to sell this system of development, it looks like regression for pretty much everyone on the team, both physically and skill-wise from the previous year. I can't think of any player who has looked better this year as apposed to last year. Did they get fat and happy?

Unless you change the offense, you can't address the weakness teams that can effectively switch create. When your offense relies heavily on on-ball screens, it isn't hard to anticipate or switch, and the passing lanes are predictable. The sets would be a bit more effective if we had a stretch 4 or PG that could consistently make 3s, but it isn't like Quin has had time to adjust for that. Look at the teams that have beat Houston. I wasn't happy when they hired Quin, a supposed offensive genius, that couldn't get anything going and somehow is touted for his defense now (Rudy), LOL. Unlike many here, I think they have the roster to effectively compete, but not with the sets they run.

He’s a good coach. This series is a blemish on a solid head coaching tenure...

This is more of the players fault and DL’s fault. We are shooting like 20% from three through two games. I think we get hot and win one game... but Quin clearly feels he doesn’t have the talent to compete and is going with gimmicks instead of playing to his teams strengths.

I’m not a huge Dantoni fan (he whines so much) but dude has always taken the talent his roster has and played to what they do best... has transcendent talent but frees them to do their thing.

Switch heavy works for a lot of teams... only team that has beaten this iteration is the warriors and they have KD who can iso with the best of them. Warriors stuff was stifled at times. Not every team can do it and Houston is the best at beating that type of strategy.

The screening and spread offense could still work but you need smart players and guys that can get separation to score on their own or start the blender... need SA with Duncan, Parker, Manu... we have DM that can drive but his passing has been bad and nothing else.

Can’t beat every style and Houston is the worst matchup for us... I’d rather play GS than these assholes.

The team is better than this... and that is what is most frustrating. They are accepting losing. Sound like an old man but no one is afraid of getting hit and there is no one willing to pick a fight. Underdogs need a Beverly who don’t give a ****... Jae is the closest thing but he’s been subdued. We need some assholes.

What would a stretch 4 do? This is an ignorant use of over used buzz words. What really will a 4 who can shoot threes do? Ignorance seriously.

My favorite was the “well actually” guys from game one that seemed to think the strategy “worked”...

Then Quin should have them stop shooting threes. Ignorance stop with this obsession of three ball.

It would help DM get more driving lanes... would punish them for over helping... it isn’t the only thing we need right now though... anyone making shots stressing the defense would be great.

Not necessarily Korver can't even get up a shot. If the stretch isn't shooting well then he isn't stretching anything. That is why I'm in the Jabbari fan club because he can shoot a three and attack the paint. A Matt Bonner stand around stretch player isn't scary at all.

Singing kumbaya takes it out of you apparently.

What happened to the pick and roll anyway? We were absolutely killing with that at the end of the season. I don't think we've tried that more than 6 or 8 times so far this series. Always the dribble handoff motion, and it's not working. It's ugly.
