Quotes from Grizzlies' forums after Game 2-"Rudy Gobert just went Old Testament Book of Mormon on Jonas AND Jaren"

We already know they are better than us, special with Mitchell that is a superstar, but the problemn for them is that we dont care and we dont know better.
This is playing out in spades. They have nothing to lose and are playing like it and their physical nature is an achilles heal for us. Memphis is going to be a very tough out.

That’s the difference is that they are playing like they have nothing to lose. Why are we not playing that way?

Here’s my theory: It’s been easy for Memphis to play like they’ve got nothing to lose.... until now.

The 2 play-in games were win and advance. As we all know, ANY team can win 1 game on any given night in the NBA. Props to Memphis as that was definitely their mind set when facing the Spurs and GS.

Then we have Game 1 vs the 1 seed who ends up missing their superstar at the last second. Again, it’s not hard to see why Memphis had the right mentality to steal one.

While Memphis might be the young underdog playing the best team in the league, you can bet your *** that they’re going to start feeling like they’ve got something to lose as this series wears on. Young or not, underdog or not, nobody wants to go home and now Memphis has to protect home court. Buttholes are gonna start clenching in the 4th qtr of Game 3 when the Jazz have a lead with under 5 minutes to play. Jazz in 5. 6 at the absolute max.

Also, lol @ the Memphis fan who said they clearly have more talent than Utah. Without fail, there’s always one or two of those in every game thread. It’s crazy how the Grizzlies won 14 less games and are 7 seeds lower than the Utah Jazz all while being the more talented team.

Teams attacking the rim more usually get more free throws. Not saying there was no bad fouls called on Jazz too, but overall whistle was very friendly to us . Go to realgm general board game thread and see what neutral fans think - all say Jazz got home cooking in game 2.
lmao @ deferring to the court of public-opinion over a sporting event, particularly when most non-fans of the 1 seed always cheer for the upset.

We allowed the 2nd fewest FTA's per 100 in the regular season - Memphis shot 38 of them tonight. If that's them getting screwed I'd hate to see what them being favored looks like.

They led NBA in pts in paint. That's their style of play. If you attack the paint you will get fouled and shoot a lot of free throws. Most of those fouls where legit fouls. I would say there was two questionable calls one where Rudy really did not touch Ja on that jumper, and other where JJJ traveled but foul was called on Favors. That's it. Memphis for sure has right to complain about way more bad calls from that game.

Memphis is 21st in FTA's per 100 possessions.

You must have been watching a different game. I could list much more, but the one that stuck out to me was a foul on Conley in the 1st half that resulted in an And1 for Morant (He ended up missing the FT). For a second it looked like Conley was going to get his first career Technical and I came out of my seat when Quin didn’t challenge it. If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear somebody told Quin that if you lose a coaches challenge, it costs you a finger...

ok even if you add that I could list at least twice as many bad calls against Memphis. We got homecooking last game, no way to twist around it. Even Shaq said that during half time.... same as Perkins on Twitter.

I disagree... small contact was called on both ends. 2 of Brooks first three fouls were no brainer cross body blocks. The refs decided to call a tight game... that does not favor memphis. The three foul calls mentioned were pretty tough on our end. Not sure which foul calls Memphis has a lot of beef with. Hell we had just been called for a tiny amount of contact on a screen and the next time down Brooks handchecks DM as he's moving around a pick and clotheslines Rudy... ya dumb bastard of course they gonna call that... they just did. They weren't smart enough to adjust. Ja got a lot of touch fouls underneath... I was okay with it because that is how I thought they called it all game.
