But when other teams have a ton of picks too and this draft is considered kinda meh, our picks had no value. I kept looking at who we could offer our multiple picks for their one pick, but it seemed like it was always Boston picking - and they had a ton of picks already, that they wanted to get rid of too. I guess we should be impressed the FO was able to get some cash for jumping back. Although maybe it was only like a hundred dollars or so. This draft sucked. But I don't totally blame DL. There are things I have wished he'd done differently (letting Ty give two first round picks for Trey Burke - I wanted Shroeder, but woulda settled on McCollum or Antetukunpo), but I don't know that he coulda done much better tonight.

Here's hoping 2017 will be better.

Exactly. This draft didn't have much for talent in it outside of the first 2 picks. The jazz traded a questionable #12 prospect for a good backup PG in Hill. It's refreshing to see that the Jazz are now moving forward and are looking to bank on the team they have than getting more young players to "bake". The second round picks to me are just icing on a cake. You never rely on them getting you anywhere so if you get a great player out of it, then its gravy. Most of the time those picks are garbage though.

Trade them for future picks or draft euro's to stash. Yes, it's bad management. You don't waste picks on players you know for a fact will never make the team.

Chalmers was just one example. The key factor here is, is George Hill THAT much better than Chalmers (or anyone else available in free agency) that you give up a lottery pick for him? No chance.

1. There is no guarantee we can get Chalmers.

2. Hill is a top 15 starting PG .. Chalmers came off the bench last season.

Name us that person we should have picked#12 and come back after 2 years to evaluate whether George Hill was worth it or not...Otherwise this would be a never ending debate.
 
For me, the Hill trade is a win now move and an okay one. It doesn't make me feel great that he only had one year left.

I love the Bolomboy move. We drafted a guy with an elite NBA skill at #52. He's a local guy too which helps some fans get excited.

I hate that we couldn't trade up to get Korkmaz, Luwawu or even Davis or DMurray after they plummeted. I'm assuming we tried.

I don't think the Paige pick makes any sense unless we are trying to win the DLeague this year. I don't see him ever wearing a Jazz uniform in the regular season. We should have draft and stash or sold the pick or flip for a future 2nd.

#60 doesn't bother me. He's got size and potential. He was worth the flier. I don't expect much though.

Overall and factoring in the Hill trade, I give this a C. If Hill plays well and any others help us out, it could rise to B. If Hill leaves after one disappointing year, it would be the worst draft in franchise history.

Side Note - the OKC trade with Orlando all but guarantees us their pick in 2018. I think Durant and/or Westbrook leave either this summer or next but Oladipo with Adams, Kanter, Sabonis and other pieces should be a low level playoff team in 2017-18. If they end up being a bottom feeder, we would never get a first from them.

Lol at the guy saying we should've signed Chalmers instead of trading for Hill.

I'd give it a B. Sounds like they tried and failed to get into that late first-round, that would've made it a A+ for sure.
