Rate the Song Above You

7/10 - There are some brilliant bits in it, but quite a few parts I didn't care for... making a 11.28min session a bit laborious at times...

Note about song: I don't understand a word of it, but the mix of electric guitar, violin and the traditional plucking instrument is pretty nice.

RIP BB King

Oh Moe I love you. 9/10. BB King is phenomenal. I have seen him live a few times, most notably at his namesake night club in Nashville TN when we were there on business and someone had an inside tip he might show up to play. We went and about an hour into another band's set, he showed up. Jammed with that other band for almost 3 hours, just old fashioned blues jamming. He was 15 feet away from us where we were sitting and afterward he just wandered around talking to people. It was awesome.

Let's go this route:

Monster Magnet "Too Bad" - 6/10 I liked it and maybe few more listens could bump it to 7/10.

Now, forget about the ****ty beer that uses this song and listen to the song...

Classic song here, a real clinic in the art of storytelling through song.

Mississippi Fred - Goin' Down to the River
9/10 - great old acoustic blues

sorry Cy, I missed your post
Aaron Carter - How I beat Shaq

Dan Hicks...I liked it. 6.5/10

Nice and upbeat and mellow. Made me want to listen to something heavier though.

This song is crazy good through some good headphones pretty loud.

KMFDM: 7/10. I liked it. Reminds me of a harder rocking Sleigh Bells.

Something new a co-worker sent to me that hooked me:

I keep getting "Youtube cannot play this in your country because we haven't worked out an agreement with the artist and GEMA."

Assholes.

Leon Bridges - Better man. That is really nice. There are a few awkward moments in the scansion, so I can only give it a 7/10, but that kid's got talent.

Staying in that vein, Jamie N Commons - Wash Me In the Water. This dude has a voice built for blues.

Jamie Commons. He has that voice for sure. 7/10.

Here is one for fun:

I think we had an entire thread at one time on misheard lyrics

Pearl Jam - Yellow Leadbetter
5.5/10 - the vocals sound like he's trying a little too hard, but half a point for the amusing lyrics

hope y'all like some zydeco - here's one from CJ Chenier on the accordion, nice to see him carrying on for his father Clifton
