What's new

Really??

Nice line. I'll try to rep you when I can.

Jazz rarely make the "sexy" additions and that's why they always fly under the radar. Marvin Williams on the Jazz will have a much bigger impact than Roy or AK on the TWolves. I do get the love for the Nuggets, though. They added Iggy by giving up Afflalo and change. And Chandler is back for the entire season.

Utah has the advantage over many teams in terms of depth. Outside of PG, the Jazz essentially have two teams of "starters." Let's hope the Jazz play up-tempo all the time and force the oppostition to play with either tired starters or second-rate subs. I see many games being decided by the Jazz' bench. Starters just need to play to a draw when they're in the game.

Piss on the Nuggets for ever. They are a threat.

I need some of your Kool Aid! I think they will compete from the 6-8 seed though. Getting a break with TWolves injured already. I would give them a small advantage if they were healthy, but what are the chances of that.

T Wolves have Rubio and Kirilenko and Roy, three players who will all suffer devastating season-ending injuries before the season is out. Kevin Love and Pekovic and tough Mo Fro's, but even that toughness will not overcome AK's porcelain bones.

I look forward with great glee to when all these same pundits say, "WOW nobody, I mean nobody saw the Jazz locking up home court in the playoffs."

National Basketball analysts know about as much about the Utah Jazz as Jazz fans know about other NBA teams.

Can you really argue the Jazz cannot be a top 5 team in the west? I agree that the Spurs, Thunder, and lakers are likely going to be better overall, but depth wins in the regualr season and the Lakers don't have depth. The Jazz will be right their with the Clips, Nuggets, and Grizz. They were already with those teams last year (keep in mind they did this having guys like Raja Bell, who is clearly finished, Josh Howard, Look as his FG% last year, and C.J. Miles, he shot like 25% from the 3, logging in a tons of minutes.) and they have only improved. Our 3 point percentage will be much better this year and all of our young guys will be better. If you can't see the logic then wow. The clips may have actually gone down in their bench's productivity. Their 3 point shooting will be worse this year, which will hurt griffin's game a little bit. Denver is not that much better than the Jazz. if you really think so, please see post 11 and explain to me why so that i can understand... ha :)

Look, you can a make a case for what you said and fine with that. But if you are a national writer/analyst/commentator what do you see that gets you excited? Face it, we are at present a bunch of humdrum vets and unproven youngs with an uproven coach. They might be good and they might not be good.

The fact that the Jazz have an elite front court and went out and added shooter that play perimeter D.

Well put. I can accept that.

To further back up my point:

Look at 3pt%. Jazz are #1 in the league.

Yes it is preseason and all that. But last year the Jazz wee 29th in the league. THis is a phenominally huge upgrade. I do not think they will finish 1st. But what if they finish top 10 % wise with the front court we have?

And the Clippers are like 27th. I believe they will be worse after losing Foye, Young, MO and whoever else they lost... Hill and bledsoe are not that great from 3

Utah is also # 2 in rebounds, 3rd in blocks, 10th in steals, and 6th in the least amount of TO's. That's nice to see.

We are also holding teams to the second least amount of points a game. and the 5th worst FG% a game.

Burks is also second in 3 point % shooting with 5 makes in 7 tries. Kanter is 1st in total rebounds.

The problem is out weakness at PG. Mo Williams is okay but if he gets hurt or misses some time Tinsley and Watson just aren't good. I really hope the Foye, Burks backcourt works.

I haven't watched it myself, but Locke talks about the Foye/Burks backcourt in his Tip Off today.

https://weareutahjazz.com/lockedonjazz/2012/10/22/tip-off-october-22nd/

Locke also mentions this tidbit:

David Locke ‏@Lockedonsports
In the pre-season Jazz have outscored opponents 155-102 with Foye and Burks as guards

What I love about basketball is that the opinion of some dumbass analyst doesn't mean jack ****.

This is what is wrong with college football. In the college football world this crap means something.

I disagree.
Watson is just fine when he's healthy (that's an if), he just has a problem shooting which sucks.
Tinsley is still a really good PG and can score decently as well.
Doesn't anyone remember his double digit assist game last year that thrusted him into the position behind Devin Harris?
And then obviously I haven't mentioned Foye or Burks yet....

In the pre-season game I went to Saturday, Foye looked horrible at the point and I don't want to see him there again.
As far as Burks goes.... he actually looked great at the point and even Karl Malone mentioned that he thinks the Jazz should just decide on him as there starting PG.

If Romney gets elected, these kinda announcers will have hard time underestimating Jazz basketball. The problem is Jazz need to be badass fighters this year, no problem with the second unit, but I see a decline in the hardwork of the starters in preseason. So they must fight the opposition to fill the PG gap. Or Mo should explode in setting pieces.

I have Denver 4th in the west and the Clippers 5th. I really like what Denver has. They don't have that superstar but they have a multi time All Star in Iggy. They have a top 10 PG in Lawson, and a great bench. Gallo could be a great player if he stays healthy and Faried, McGee, Mosgov and Kosta make for a pretty solid big man rotation. Denver well push the ball like crazy and have guys that really finish well around the rim.

The Clippers have a solid bench and CP3 just makes them a very good team. Blake and Jordan are very athletic in the front court. To me the real x factor on the clips well be Odom. If he plays like he did last year then the Clips wont be a contender. If he plays like he did with the Lakers the Clippers are a top team in the west.

So IMO I see us fighting with Memphis for the 6-7 spot in the west this year.

Seriously? Marvin Williams over Roy or AK? We should make a bet about this one.

He is not talking abou twho is a better player. He is saying who will impact their team better. I think Marvin has a shot at this. The Jazz are desperate for what Marvin brings. 3 pt shooting and perimeter D. The Jazzs desperate need of his skills amplifys his impact on the team.

Yep, I love what Marvin brings. He is a perfect role player.
