Rebounding - How Do We Improve?

May need to unleash Brantley... get some reps now so he's possibly ready to help later.

Overall this is the team they built, and the trade-off they thought would yield the best results. I don't think anyone thought that anyone outside of Davis was much of a rebounder, but even Davis wouldn't really have helped us last night. It was our normal closing squad getting absolutely schooled on the boards. Bojan, Ingles, even Mitchell and Conley as much as they can need to crash the ****ing boards. They did look lazy and flat-footed. We need way more effort from them if we expect to maintain and even be average. Gobert cannot do it all and I think he is starting to get frustrated by the whole thing. We need to be the team flying in from the top of the key to corral the ball, not the team standing there watching the ball get away. It's embarrassing. They should be forced to watch video of them standing flat footed as whoever that was in Sacramento came running in to win the game 100 times with their eyes glued open. It's a disgrace.

Replace Jeff Green in the rotation with Georges Niang or Jarrell Brantley. Green isn't going to rebound unless the ball falls right into his hands.

Take Conley out of the closing line-up, play Mitchell on the ball (which they do anyway), play Royce at the 2, and play Jingles at the 4 as a designated rebounder. So you close with Mitchell/Royce/BoJingles/Rudy. That's enough offense, since Mitchell is really the go-to scorer at that point in the game. Conley is just sitting in the corner on offense anyway, and Royce or Joe Ingles can do that just fine.

Something like this may help...

Roob’s the catcher of course.

For real. Rodman is only 6'7 and is one of the greatest rebounders and defenders ever.

Here's a video for the Jazz:

Rodman was great not only because he boxed out. His effort and anticipation for where the ball would go off the rim were unparalleled.

This was my biggest concern over the summer, could find the few posts but it doesn't really matter. Too be honest the last 2 years it was a problem just not as blatant because it generally was only noticeable against select teams in the closing few minutes of games.

Eexample team OKC previous 2 years and specific example playoff game Jazz won the series but gave up multiple offensive rebounds but OKC never made the shots.

As was stated when Gobert and Favors were on the court the rest of the team didn't have to really worry about rebounds, however this wasn't the lineup that closed. Everyone loves Crowder and he was a hustle player but his hustle when it comes to rebounding was a bit overrated IMO.

Jazz players might be who they are and I am and have been disappointed in Green's rebounding. I am holding out hope that once the Jazz have a chance to actually have a day off to watch film and practice they will see how glaringly putrid the rebounding has been. As well as Quin can possibly scheme, adjust or maybe just show how players are just plain out of position to even give themselves a chance for a rebound. Cause Damn, Just Damn this rebounding.

I'd like to petition all the local media to start using the term "defensive reboun" or just spell "reboun". Cause the Jazz start out playing tough Defense but cannot finish the defensive possession, so no finishing D no "d" in rebound.
