Redemption Game: Utah Jazz @ Dallas Mavericks

Ironically, the Jazz took and made more 3s than the Mavs. The difference in the game was turnovers and giving up layups, basically.

Yep. We couldn't guard anyone early on and that killed us. Interested to see game-to-game progression, and how this group responds. Hopefully no head-hanging, repetitively dumb turnovers, etc (the easily fixable stuff). I think we have the ingredients to be good but all five starters need to step up defensively first.

Haha are you serious? "Jazz aren't a young team anymore." and yet they are the 3rd youngest team in the league.

Yep, we wanted to play the youth, we got it. It does seem that we haven't become worldbeaters in two games. Watched enough of some other teams to realize that we aren't as bad as we could be.

We also need to take out the weakest defensive link in the starting unit (Kanter).

What I'm seeing is the Jazz are sticking a little too close to the system. Almost like following a script, oblivious to any opportunities that present themselves.
For instance Burks had Ellis and Barea guarding him many times tonight. Attacking either of these midgets is probably a higher percentage shot than anything we can draw up.

Burke, Burks and Kanter can't play at the same time...they are all 3 defensive liabilities.

Anyway our defense will be a big concern the whole season...Favors and Hayward defense seems overrated at times.

We don't have defensive specialists on the roster...except Gobert as rim protector.
