Report: Rockets may trade Sengun...Jazz interest?

A big swing in the trade market tells me they want to trade him for a star, not to a team for draft picks.

If they can find a team I don't think selling high in Senguin is a terrible move. They have played pretty well without him.

Jaylen Brown is the name that pops out immediately.

Seems like they will be looking for more of a star player….but Sengun is near ideal for what Hardy wants out of his big.

So uhhh….where does Lauri factor into this?

On paper, I'd love Seguin. However, the fit on defense isn't great. And the asking price will probably turn me off.

That said, a playmaking center works really well on this team. Just ask Olynyk.

I'm not buying that article for a second. There is no way that they trade a 21yr old Sengun who just keeps getting better and better.

He doesnt. If the Rockets are dealing someone like Seguin they are probably looking for a bonafide top 10 guy. Maybe if you want Green and Nets picks you can talk about trading Lauri (I'd pass)

I think trading high on Segun might be a smart thing. He is hyper skilled, but is he a championship type player? He's basically a smaller less good version of Jokic. Houston is actually -3.1 per 100 with him on the court. They've had a 110.8 defensive rating when he sits. That would be good for 4th in the NBA. If you can move him along with picks for a legit top 10 guy, that could be a smart move.

Teams are usually too scared to do these types of things, so kudos to Houston if they pull it off. Just not sure who the player would be.

Rockets, Nets, Thunder are the Lauri trade teams if one of them gets wild I think we might bite.

For what Top 10 guy? Jalen Brown isn't top 10. The Article is of course B.S just an aggregation of something MacMahon mentioned on the POD. I wonder what their package for Lauri will look like.

Did you listen to the pod? How was it a BS version of what he said? And like I said I have no idea. Actually don't even think there is a clear top 10 currently.

Just brought up Brown because of the Boston connection and they will be a team under financial burden. Agree he isn't too 10, but maybe the coach thinks there is more.

Brooklyn would have to be pretty confident in a Donovan move to trade the last of it's assets (Phoenix/Philly firsts) for Lauri to have a core of Mikal/Lauri. Great second and third options with super role players in DFS/Claxton/etc, but that team would need an engine.

Houston jumping to #1 with the Brooklyn pick and trading for Lauri is probably the best case scenario for a full rebuild if we go that route I think

Hell no.

I don’t think Brooklyn would actually do it but the Phx and Philly picks they have are decently valuable. I think it would likely be OKC or Houston and yes Houston getting a top 4 pick would likely be a big factor. But like I told @Elizah Huge on our pod… I want a lot. So whatever you think is “fair” add like 30-50%. So I’d want a top 4 pick, Jabari Smith and another Brooklyn pick. Maybe sub in Green but I still think there is some fools gold there.

Because the article made it seem like he was reporting something with insider information, when that wasn't the case. They discuss and throw out ideas on the POD all the time. They are usually mindful about what they say to avoid aggregation when having casual podcast conversations.

So what was said?
