Restaurants

What is anyone's opinion of Maddox Ranch House in Perry Utah? My wife is taking me there for my birthday.
It's my family's favorite restaurant, the one we celebrate almost all important events for the past 40 years. If you like food that's not fancy but good quality, it's great. The rolls with raspberry butter are divine.

Reservations are a must.

Cotton Bottom has changed ownership and gone through a major renovation. I've never been there.

Crown Burger is better than Apollo, hands down. Yeah, same menu, very similar almost every way, but Crown is clearly better. The Downtown OG Crown Burger location is also better than their other locations, maybe saving the Sugarhouse location. I'll take Astro over Apollo, but Crown is better than either. I think Apollo was better but they have clearly been acquired by some big organization and have become a corporate fast food joint that doesn't even make their own fry sauce on location. For anyone outside Utah, fry sauce may have originated at Arctic Circle, but it became mandatory with the Crown Burger, which is a Pastrami Burger. You are legally (I'm kidding) required to put fry sauce on your Crown Burger. The copycat places call their pastrami burger the Apollo Burger and the Astro Burger.

Best fry sauce hands down. Bout time has some garlic fry sauce that gives it a run for the money though

Has anyone been to Ruth’s diner up emigration canyon? Always been told it’s real good. It’s also not just a dive. Seems like a little more upscale diner.
I've been there a handful of times. When the weather is nice the outside seating can't be beat. It is a breakfast restaurant for me. Never tried their lunch or dinner menu. I'd suggest hitting it on a weekday to avoid a long wait.

Ok this might have been mentioned here already but Taggart's is worth a drive. Up Weber canyon past Morgan just kind of off the freeway. Good food, really interesting location, good atmosphere. If you're in the mood for a drive it's a decent destination.

My wife and I were up in Morgan looking for a house/lot to buy (we really really want to move there) and hot hungry. Went to Taggart’s and it was an hour plus wait time. We had someplace to be and couldn’t wait but want to try again.

Yeah, depends on when you go and such like lots of hot spots. Bummer you couldn't try it. We like it.

Has anybody been to Hell's Backbone Grill & Farm in Boulder, UT?

https://hellsbackbonegrill.com/
Pan-seared chicken breast - $32
French onion soup - $24
Beef stew - $24

Other fancy-pants kind of stuff. The local smoked trout pate for $13 sounds pretty good for an appetizer. The spicy chipotle meatloaf for $28 sounds interesting.

Ain't for the faint of wallet that is for sure.

Yeah, it's worth a visit, though I honestly can't tell you what I ate or remember it. I've been a couple times. Overall I don't find diner food all that memorable but it's always good.

Regarding Maddox, we've been up there a handful of times. It's alright. Worth going at least once. Don't get the shrimp steak.

They ended up opening a restaurant in Lehi (though it may technically be an American Fork address) called Little India that I would deem the best Indian in the state.
