It sounds like Romney really wants to increase taxes on the half of the people below the median income, in order to pay for lowering taxes for the upper end.

It sounds like Romney really wants to increase taxes on the half of the people below the median income, (even as he wants to minimize taxes on the rich.)
Just look at the quotes that this thread is about, along with vague references his side has made about "lowering the rate and broadening the base". It sure looks that way to me. Don't worry Mr. 1 Percenter, he's on your side.Huh? Based on what?
Nevermind. Not biting.
I read his exact words today but have not yet watched the video. As someone who considers himself a conservative liberal (I lean more left), I didn't find too much wrong with his statement. We need to stop romanticizing ****, like this country for one, and call a spade a spade. As a nation, we're in the ****ter financially and the entitlement that people feel they deserve is baffling to me. As a teacher, we have currently had to pay more and more into our healthcare and this will rise over the next few years. I hear people at work bitch about this (it does suck, essentially our pay stays the same year to year because while we get nominal raises, more is taken out for healthcare) as if they deserve this or that and I'm not sure why. Were our great bennies part of the reason to become a teacher? Sure, to some degree. But to bitch and moan about paying 10% of your healthcare (it will max at 30% in a few years for me) is absurd.
That said, here's what I have a problem with. The 47% who aren't paying taxes aren't paying them for the same reason Romney essentially pays jack**** himself. The system. The 47% didn't make the tax laws. People in positions of power, like Romney, did. They're just doing what he's done for the last couple decades, taking advantage of a system that is royally screwed.
To Romney middle class is 250K, maybe even 500k, or a million or more, the top end of that range under his perspective might surprise us.I have it on good word that Romney told his rich private donors in Utah today that he would not be able to lower taxes on the rich & would focus on the middle class instead. He told this to the rich.
