Romney Fundraiser - Secret Taping

Same here. But either way, his successes are not all that special considering he came from a 7+ figure income from birth.

You don't think that the majority had they been born to Mitt's parents wouldn't still be rich?

I'm not referring to Mitt's political career. Not many people probably would have followed that. I'm referring specifically to Mitt's wealth.

Those folks, had they been born to Mitt's parents, would have received so many more opportunities, paid for schooling, etc. that the vast majority would have maintained or built upon the wealth they already had.

Mitt isn't a self made man.

You give most Americans the upbringing and opportunities he had and they'd be rich too. Never underestimate the power that good education and connections with millionaires can have.

By God, he didn't. He agreed with that part.

I understand that.

I just don't see them being separated.

You plug Mitt into a life of hard labor, no college education, surrounded by drugs, rape, unemployment, etc and he's a one of the 47 % that he despises right now with probably 8 kids with 3 different women.

Again, America isn't being killed off by lazy asses. We're being killed off because a very small percentage of the population owns, controls, and operates everything. We keep hearing how giving them more tax cuts, subsidies, and our freedoms (like destroying unions) will benefit us for promises that they'll finally 'create jobs.' right.

Folks are living and dying without hope. They see no college education, they see no opportunity, they live in a world of poverty, etc. Quite the contrast to Romney's bed of Benjamins.

If anything, we need to focus on bringing that 47 % up. Hence, why I support universal health care, education, and sniff sniff, higher taxes on millionaires (ohhh the hooorrrrrorrr!). I know I know, I'm a horrible person for thinking that Mitt's money would be better invested in helping some of those 47 percent gain an education instead of Mitt building a car elevator or building another castle in Park City.

Everyone except complete degenerate ****ing idiots would still be rich. But Romney was able to take his opportunity and turn it into something. I disagree with the idea that most people would see the same level of success Mitt has had, largely because there are a lot of millionaire children that don't end up running huge investment capital firms or becoming governors. Whether I agree with how he ran his business or his governorship or not. But he took his opportunity and ran with it which, again, is still more than a lot of people do at similar, greater, or lesser levels.

Of course that is not to say if he was born in a middle-class family or lower his fate would be even similar and I definitely contend that it would be basically anything but. Like the vast majority of the rest of us.

You typed too much after comprehending too little.

Stellar.

Looking for this quote, northeast.

Did he say that, really?

He did say that. It's on youtube, Now it was in the context of how the election was shaping up, so he could argue that that when he says "never" he didn't mean never, he just meant as far as the election is concerned, and he has since said that he could should have articulated it better, but he did say it.

Of course , as mentioned before, this is not my only problem with his words.

That's how I heard it. Now he has backtracked, and said that he should have articulated it better or some such thing, which leaves it open to re-interpretation, so he can argue that in the context he was really talking about just for the purposes of the election, and he misspoke, but I did hear him say that ( my first sentence, the rest was interpretation.)

See post 65...

And I guarantee you in the next 48 hours he'll flip flop again.

Has Willard had a consistent thought for more than a day? I mean... Other than his obsession with getting into the White House? We all know that he'll do anything and everything to get there.

His recent comments on HC were just plain hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard since Newt talked about the importance of family values.

LOL

I'm not asking about the backtrack. I'm asking about his original statement. Did he say it or not? You said he did. Is it true, or how you remembered it ..?

I can agree with the first sentence but not necessarily the second.

So you're saying that Millions of Americans would be squeaky clean, boring rich stiffs who had been a Govenor and running for president? Sorry PKM I can't agree. Maybe you deal with a higher level of person than I do, but my experience with people tells me that the vast majority would not be willing to do what Mitt has done, and would therefore not find themselves where he is today. Some would. Most would not.

For that same reason I believe Mitt would rise, just as many others have, regardless of the obstacles they faced or position they were born to. Maybe not rise as high, maybe it would be harder, but some people are just able to achieve and lead. I'm okay with that, and I'm okay that I'm not Mitt or PKM or whomever your favorite overachiever is. Life isn't fair, and nobody can make it fair. The sooner a person comes to term with that the sooner they will find serenity.
