Wrong. The issue is not "government controls everything" vs. "no government control at all". Stop dealing in absolutes. The best solution is rarely...nope I am going to say it...is NEVER on the extremes. The best solutions need to be found in the middle. And having a third, or more, viable party would help drive things in that direction, since the 2 we have are so polarized now. The only way another party would have to go is into the middle ground, where we really need to be. There needs to be proper government oversight (such as to ensure net neutrality or to break up monopolies), but not over-reaching control in either direction. The two party system is definitely heavily flawed and bringing out the worst in people.
And frankly, back on topic, when is the harassment and other **** toward women going to stop?!? I will tell you when. It will stop when men who do not engage in that behavior stop being silent when they observe it. I stepped in today in a gas station. A guy was calling the woman behind the counter "girl" and "ditzy" and actually said the words "dumb bitch" while yelling at her because he was in a hurry. I stepped in and told him basically to stick it and that talking to her like that wasn't going to get him out of there any faster, so he should shut his pie hole and let her do her job. There were at least 6 other guys there, and a few women, and no one else said anything. Well this **** will continue as long as the silent majority stays silent.
with more "big parties" their will be a failure to form a government, i have seen it happen in Europe and south america. or their is a government and it falls.
for example Belgium had no government for about 2 years! which si great, it saved a lot of money as a minimal govenrment was installed to keep status qou. now new laws, no new regulations no new policies
or in dutch situation 6 governments in 14 years. every time the government fell because parties could get nothing done, it is not good if you have a government for 2 year. it is a waste of money.
because government starts a project, example build a new police headquarters budgeted for a few million dollars, halfway through a new government cops and halts the construction, now you have a half finished empty building just siting abandoned. 6 governments in 14 years. so give or take 2 years per government. that is not healthy a lot of wasted money on projects that started and new government does not agree with it.
germany had some luck with forming a government and government staying in place. but that luck seems to run out as merkel cannot form a government, and might lead to new elections.
in practice the more political parties the inefficient governments gets. also the bigger governments get. because if you have to work with other political parties, they have their pet projects. party a wants project x party b wants project y and party c wants project z.
now those 3 parties have to form a government so now you get 3 projects instead of 1. and hope the government don't fall because then it gets abandoned.
so yeha work in absoolutes. you want government to solve a problem or you wnat the individual. switch party every few terms and then you might reach center. if their are rinos like romney and democrats like mccain
