Well, my "tribe" is the people who see the dangers of global fascism under the false flag of UN "peace" and "progress", where the leadership is not subject to elective process nor the rule of law. Please join my tribe.

The US Constitution, as Sir Kicky has said, might have been written by men no smarter than himself, but they were the products of classical education, not Dewey Decimal socialist reductionism. They posited the values that human beings have innate rights because of their humanity that transcend any government claims of authority, and tried to set up a government subject to human agency but resistant to the hegemony of power-seeking cliques.

I agree with Jonah that we need a cultural shift towards more responsible morals, more concern for how our actions affect others, and a more just system of power that treats all people as equals if they adhere to basic human notions we can assert on some basis as "good".

I think most people who turn to Christian teachings after some sort of sinful life are trying to make a change for the better. some, not all, of course. I wish I could say the same about, say, secular humanists in general. Maybe, I've seen some like that, just not a general trend. Most, ime, when cut loose of belief in higher powers, go all Nietzche on us and start to believe they can do whatever they can get away with. That is, for example, how I see the Clintons..... maybe Trump, but I still think he's more of the old soft-headed back-slapper looking for a win-win deal with whoever he's talking to.

What’s happening is beyond politics and partisanship. It’s a culture shift. The end of ding dongs doing whatever they want whenever they want. Ray Moore, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Louis CK, Leon Wieseltier, Mark Halperin, are a diverse group of mad men and just the tip of a melting iceberg.

And as a non-rapist, non-sexual assaulter it makes me extremely happy to see. There have honestly been times in my life when I wondered if being more "persistent" is the way I'm supposed to be with women instead of patiently waiting for things to happen out of mutual desire, seeing as how people I knew who were "persistent" had a higher "success rate" than me. Reading a lot of the #metoo accounts, I'm glad I was never that guy. I'll take fewer notches in the bed post and hold my head high knowing for each notch I do have it's a notch in her bed post as well.

Ditto, throw them all away.

But I do wonder how many allegations are true and how many are real. Either way it is showing that no matter who you are this crap shouldn't be tolerated.

This is pretty sickening stuff, the allegations are bad enough but all the Alabama GOP party officials excusing sexual molestation is just something else. Tribalism certainly has a lot to do with it but there's also the sad fact that men are often expected and encouraged to court teenage girls in certain evangelical Christian faiths.

I have dealt with the ugliness of this more intimately than I ever wanted in the workplace. It even resulted in a false accusation against myself and a coworker and ended with 2 people being fired, 1 convicted for sexual assault, and multiple court visits on my part. It is ugly and terrifying and horrifying, I simply cannot express how terrible this kind of experience is and I wasn't even one of the those who were harassed and assaulted by the perpetrator, I was the one working to resolve the issue.

I agree with BP/GF here. I am very glad this is all coming to light, it is about time and it needs to be dealt with specifically in all of these cases and in a wider scope in society.

This part can get dicey. I think I recounted my experience with this once, and I probably should again anyway, but in the course of a huge investigation into harassment claims at my employer years back I was falsely accused of harassment and assault (by friends and one family member of the guy that ended up being convicted to distract from the case), and I had to stand up in a court setting to pronounce my innocence. That is profoundly unnerving to say the least. We need to take these issues dead seriously, but they can also take on a witch hunt atmosphere pretty quickly. It is important to have a solid investigation in each case on its own merits, and not just sweep it along with all the rest, to make sure we uncover the truth and then deal with the perpetrators accordingly.

the problem is, statistically speaking women primarily are the ones who go through Log's experience-- and men simply don't empathize with women when they talk about how brutal the process of going to court for suspected sexual assault.

I've been through something similar to what Log described. It was horrible. I feel terrible for any woman, man or child who has been sexually abused, and I also feel terrible for anyone who has been wrongly accused of abuse. There are definitely people in both categories.

But crickets from thriller when Kevin Spacey was revealed to be a predator of underage boys.

Lol? Really? That’s supposed to reveal my hypocrisy? I’m sorry I’m more interested in Roy Moore and the politics of the nation than Hollywood gossip. Can you show me threads where I have emphasized the importance of Hollywood celebrities over politics? What spacey, Weinstein, CK Louis, and whoever else has done is despicable and i hope they pay for it. So if you truly were concerned about my view on sexual abuse, there you have it.

It’s funny, you tried to show somehow my hypocrisy in failing to start a thread about Spacey, because for some reason in your head he’s somehow representative of the DNC. But it actually backfired. I’m known for politics, not Hollywood. Hypocrisy would be me creating threads about conservative Hollywood actors and their improprieties yet refusing to create threads for liberal ones.

Don’t try me. I have a degree or two over your head. Get a college education, then come talk to me.

Truly,

Yes this. Believe me the brave women who came forward and went through this with me were dealing with FAR greater pressures and pain than I was. It was a nightmare scenario for all involved, but as bad as it was for me I do not pretend that it was anywhere near what those women had to go through. It changed the way I manage people, and it is a bad memory I will never forget, but for at least 2 of them it represents real scars they will carry the rest of their lives. Men who perpetrate this **** need to be dealt with harshly, imo.

Truly,

I already have your white flag for failing to show your evidence that the majority of republicans are represented by white supremacist views, so that's good enough.

I love the appeal to authority dodge though, that was great. Keep up the good work! I am sure many here would agree that I am merely a simpleton, if not from my posts then from the fact that I only have 3 degrees and apparently you have 5.

Holy **** am I scared to death of the fact that this guy actually has any influence over how young people in this country learn to think about critical issues. No wonder this country is rapidly headed down the ****ter.
