Royce O'Neale Over Bolomboy

Practice, end of games, preseason, and Summer League. He showed very little upside and didnt earn any more playing time or a contract.
Not sure we know anything about practice, he had a terrible summer league, he never played at the end of games, and preseason? What was wrong with his preseason?

4 games
8.5 MPG
8 PPG
4 RPG
0.75 APG
0.5 APG
11/15 FG
4/6 3P
6/7 FT

Jazz had the choice between two good guys and looks like they made a good choice. It wasn’t a good vs. trash choice.

How can we get people to change political allegiances when someone can objectively be completely and utterly obliterated on an opinion they once held and they just continue to double and triple down on the non sense instead of realizing and admitting they were wrong?

This thread is a microcosm of what is wrong with the country. For shame Thee Jazz Fan, for shame.

Summer league holds very little in my eyes when evaluating talent, hence he looked 100 times better in preseason, also taking into account that he's playing in a less structured chaotic basketball mess that makes a lot of scrubs look like stars, a less experienced Bolomboy IMO doesn't belong in that type of setting, and u have no idea what was happening in practice, and he was fine in garbage time, often showed he had improving shooting range, and showed his athletic ability, then balled out in this preseason. I'm not sure how he blew his opportunity? IMO he made the most in the little opportunity he had, I just think the jazz knew how raw he was, and knew how long the process it would take for him, but the notion that he didn't do all he could, and that we've come to the decision that he doesn't, or will never belong in the NBA is ridiculous at this point. Don't forget that most here made a snap decision that Ingles definitely wasn't an NBA player after half a season. By the way I championed him too

Completely different player. Udoh is a great defender who’s weak on the glass. Bolomboy is an unknown defender who is elite on the glass. Offensive games very different, too. I’d take another shot on him if we lost Thabo or Jerebko.
Slightly different but the hope for Bolomboy is that he could become a defensive player like Udoh. Their offense isnt far off from each other except Udoh is a much smarter player. Bolomboy does shoot but his shot is ugly and I doubt will ever be good.

I've had no problem admitting when I'm wrong, I just like Bolomboy his skill set intrigues me and felt the jazz gave up on him way too soon, and for the record I wanted the jazz to keep both Boy and Royce.

He got to play in a few games his rookie year at the end of games. That is what got people excited about him. I thought there might be something but then summer league and pre-season changed my mind.

He looked lost on offense and defense. I dont see the upside of him either. He isnt that athletic. He is very undersized and his shooting is ugly. I dont see him as an NBA player.

I think him being a defensive stopper would be nice but I’m not sure how many people were thinking that. All I wanted for him was to spread the floor a bit without shooting a high volume and grab rebounds from the 4 spot like he’s an elite rebounding 5. That’s it.

I don’t think you were championing too hard for Royce
This pisses me off!!!this is going to come back to bite us in the ***!! All of u idiots happy we kept Royce and Neto over Bolomboy will probably cuss out DL when Bolomboy makes it. U heard it here first. Horrible ****ing move!!!
So let’s pump the brakes.

You could’ve said “I still like Bolomboy, but in hindsight obviously DL made the right moves” and that would’ve been fine.

Fair enough. I have no faith in him ever being a consistent shooter. His shot is not good. The upside of having an undersized guy who does not play that good of defense and adds nothing on offense while being a good rebounder is nothing to get excited about for me.

He did have a good vertical but it never translated to playing well for me. He got blocked by the rim on dunks with no one around more than once. He moves very awkwardly. I just dont see him as an NBA player. I hope he proves me wrong.

Either way the choice to keep Neto and Royce over him is not really close. I dont have any interest in bringing him back unless something drastically changes with him.

That was a knee jerk reaction to what happened. And me shooting off the handle. It happens with me from time to time. I've also compared Royce to Draymon Green on this message board, and quite frankly u can think what u want. I've also argued that we should've kept Bolomboy, because of the excessive amount of wings we had before the year started.

C'mon now...Bolomboy is not "elite" at rebounding. And rebounding is a good skill, don't get me wrong, but if that's the only thing you're actually good at, you aren't gonna make it.

And Udoh is an elite defender. Not great, elite. If he had at least an average offensive game, he's in the race for DPOY for some team.
