Rubio has made a lot of bad plays the last two games and if it wasn't for Mitchell going off, the Jazz would've lost this game. Mitchell when playing with Jingling is a better lineup. In fact, the offense ran much better tonight with Ricky on the bench. Hopefully, Dante can come back, but if not we've got Mitchell, a future perennial All-Star. And for those worrying about his one-foot jumping, did you see that long stride and one-foot broad jump along the baseline that took him in front of the rim from deep in the corner late in the 4th quarter? I had a good view sitting in the lower bowl in section 11.
 
Rubio had 21 pts on 13 shots, by far his most efficient offensive game. His turnovers are still too high and he's still figuring out how to get the ball to Rudy, but considering he's running a new team and working with a new coach, I think he's doing pretty well. A PG who puts up 15/5/8 and plays good defense is tough to replace.
 
My daughter thinks he's cute so there's that.

I'm only a little concerned he hasn't been making Rudy better just yet.

Defenses are taking away Rudy Gobert's roll to the rim as a priority. This is in part why our 3-pt shooters have been open. Teams are defending Rudy and making our other guys make shots.
 
We get it, you had fancy schmancy seats because you're better than us or something. Stop rubbing our noses in it.
 
I understand that it's nice if the point guard is super athletic, can get to the rim and finish, and can shoot 3s off the dribble. I get all that. RR is probably a 2nd or 3rd-tier PG for that reason.

Definitely feels like this to me. It makes sense that teams would hone in on the Rudy roll as something to shut down with Hayward gone.
 
Feels like he is ignoring Rudy a lot on offense.
His shot is not more efficient than getting it deep to Rudy.

But maybe you guys are right - it is more to do with the way defenses are setting up.

Rubio is looking for his shot too much. It was frustrating watching him make some of the dumb turnovers he made. They were crucial in keeping the Lakers in the game. Jingling runs the offense much better. And for all the talk of Rubio's defense, Mitchell is better on D. By midseason, Mitchell could supplant Rubio at the point.

By the way, my fancy seats were nowhere near court level but I did have a good view of that drive by Mitchell that I mentioned. I flew in for four games. Favors also looked good, though he doesn't look as mobile as two-three years ago. I don't what to think of Alec. He has been a disappointment, just doesn't have any confidence. Jingling is better than ever and while not our best player, right now could be our MVP because of how much better the offense works when they let him run it.

Furthermore, Rubio made both some ill-advised passes and some very poorly thrown passes to Rudy.

Seemed like most of his turnovers were because he was trying to get the ball to Gobert, but they were taking the roll away. He even said as much in post game interviews. He said he forced it to Gobert, but was taken away.

Your an idiot if u think DM replacing Rubio is a good idea. As a rookie, DM is making a ton of mistakes, and his turnover rate would no doubt go way up if he was the full time pg, plus we'd lose Rubio's playmaking. Other then turnovers, Rubio is IMO having a good year. The turnovers have to do with teams taking away the Rudy roll, and Rubio feeling obligated to force it to him in traffic and being new to the team, he just needs to get acclimated into the offense and find command of it. I'm not worried

I never said this should happen now -- I'm saying that Mitchell in there and with Ingles setting things up was definitely a better option this game. And going forward as Mitchell gets more experience, it could happen by mid-season.

This last game, the offense was not running well with Rubio in there. He was dribbling and holding the ball way too much. Quin's offense needs movement and not standing around holding ball. Sure, if Ricky was a dynamic one-on-one scorer it would be okay, but he's not, which is why I say he is looking for his shot too much. Teams are content to let him do that. So he needs to give it up when that happens instead of forcing his own shot. It worked with Hill because he is much better at not only creating his own shot but also is a much better shooter.
 
No Mitchell can't run this offense. Mitchell turns the ball over way too often. His handle is a bit loose or something because he got the ball poked out like 4 times last night.

Rubio is turning the ball over far too often. He lacks the ability to make us dynamic on offense, he did get 20 pts last night, but I need to see more consistency and less turn overs.

rubio is currently top 4 in turnovers. westbrook and Harden leads the league in turnovers problem is those 2 guys are high octane scorers. Rubio isnt. Thats a big problem.
