Rubio traded to Jazz

Bawse Dawg, JustTheTip, and Cappy_Smurf are totally dominating this thread.

I cannot believe how many people are rushing to judgment. And then there's the quality of insight in those rushed judgments: awful. ****ing awful.

According to the CARMELO ratings, Rubio is a better guard to play with over IT and Dragic.
Another selling point to Hayward.

They bowed out of Hill, who is a proven winner and perfect fit with the Jazz because they didnt want to get in a bidding war with San Antonio (and whoever else may have wanted Hill).

Of course they will paint it as a pure basketball decision, but it signals financial doubt.

Nope. Several reasons: Getting the best value out of a pick before it plummets and at the same time using that cap space to add an asset instead of wasting it. Also insurance if Hill just falt out picks SA. Hayward isn't going to wait around for a month for Utah to negotiate with Hill, only to lose out and then re-sign Shelvin Mack.

Utah is in a really bad spot in regards to re-signing Hill. This way they have some insurance, and could still re-sign Hill and dump Rubio at the trade deadline to avoid the tax.

This wasn't about saving money. At all.

I have so many thoughts right now...

- I question the fit because the dude cannot shoot the ball to save his life.
- So this definitely means Hill is gone unless acquiring Rubio was part of a bigger move being cooked up. Right?
- How does this effect Hayward's decision?
- I guess Ex is never going to get an opportunity. I question why we used a #5 pick on a player who has never seen consistent minutes in his entire career and is entering a contract season.
- If this helps Minny acquire another all star level player like Lowry... ****

And of course, the main thought that has been on my mind for at least a week straight...
- For the love of **** Hayward please stay.

Exum was a LONG-term project. Everybody knew that when we drafted him. If Hill comes back, then I see your point about Exum. But if he doesn't, then you have Rubio getting 30 minutes and Exum getting 20 minutes, which isn't bad at all. Plus, Rubio has had lots of injuries earlier in his career. Exum will likely get some more chances as the starter.

One thing no one is talking about cause no one could really know is the chance that Hayward prefers rubio over hill.

We all heard reports that Hayward really likes hill and wants him back. But it's not like we have heard one way or tyne other about Hayward's feeling about rubio. Maybe DL asked hayward what he thinks of rubio and hayward said that he has been a huge rubio fan forever and would love to play with rubio. Maybe hayward flat out told DL that he would rather have rubio than hill.

No one knows really. I'm gonna trust DL for now.

Plus someone had mentioned Ingles and Rubio are close. If that's the case a conversation about Rubio between Ingles and Hayward would likely be a good chat to have.

********, plain and simple. Are there other factors? Sure, but money is a huge factor here.

You want 70% of the cap committed to Hill, Hayward, and Gobert?

I think signing Hill made for the best Jazz team. I think if the Jazz had a richer owner, or were in a bigger market where they were less concerned about money, they would have paid for Hill and Ingles.

Something that kinda sucks is that OKC pick now being gone takes away some flexibility in being able to dump Burks.
That's good news. Burks gonna ball out
