Riding a five-game winning streak, the Utah Jazz received more good news Sunday when Rudy Gobert participated in practice for the first time since injuring his right knee in a 84-74 loss to the Miami Heat on Nov. 10. Originally given a timetable of 4-6 weeks to recover, Gobert has been ramping up his ...

Utah Jazz could have Rudy Gobert back Monday night against the Wizards

Running high on a five-game win streak and coming off a 41-point explosion by rookie Donovan Mitchell, fans of the Utah Jazz (12-11) have plenty of reasons to have a spring in their steps.

But here’s another: Center Rudy Gobert has been upgraded to questionable for Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards (12-10).

The 7-foot-1 big man ran through a “light practice” on Sunday, the latest step in his recovery from a bone bruise in his right leg on Nov. 10. While the Jazz said that he was scheduled for a medical re-evaluation this coming Friday, his upgraded status is a sign that he could be back sooner than originally hoped.

Coach Quin Snyder said the decision rests wholly on his medical staff.

“We’re going to confer and trust those guys to never do anything to put Rudy in harm’s way,” he said. “When he’s ready to go, he’ll be ready to go.”

I'd rather him not push it, especially not right now.

Then again, maybe that's part of why he wants to. Probably killing him to not be out there and watching everything happen without him.

So Gobert is ahead of schedule while glass man Hood has no schedule.

He definitely shouldn't push it.

Although Rudy's performance against Washington at home last year was a thing of beauty to behold. He completely got in the heads of Gortat and Morris - I think they shot like 4 for 20 combined.

Now that Gobert is close to returning I wonder if Snyder goes back to line ups with Gobert, Favors and Rubio. How does he make that work?

At least one of them suddenly becomes a player they've never been is how that works.

In other words, it won't.

Bringing him back after one practice seems a little quick doesn't it? I'd rather see him not push it too. We are in a good zone and winning anyways. Let it heal 100% or close to it.

I'd like to see him get at least one or two more full practices in. There's really no rush since the jazz are winning games without him.

I would not push it yet. This game we should win without him... let him rest a bit more.

My guess is he'll play limited minutes if at all. They will ease him back in. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't be letting him practice if the didn't feel he's close to 100%.
Time to see if we can come up with a rotation that uses all of our assets to the greatest advantage!
