Rudy Gobert's Instagram Message for Kobe and JazzFanz...

You think so? Then maybe you've stumbled on the problem this team has, because I was very disappointed in Rudy's development this year. At the start of the season, I actually thought we had stolen one of the premier centers of the league with that 27th pick, but by the end of season I was wondering what it would take to get an upgrade.

Addictionary may have it right, the French NT drained him last summer. Frankly, if Gobert plays for France again this summer, then I hope DL bundles him in a trade for someone that can help the Jazz on BOTH ends of the floor.

Yeah, I said it.

I completely agree. To a lesser degree, I feel the same about Exum. I have concerns if he goes. How much court time is he really going to see anyway in games? I feel like the Olympics are one huge ****fest so his mind won't be in the right place as far as taking non-game time seriously. I also seriously worry that the coaches and staff have no vested interest in making sure he is healthy or helping him.

These guys need to get fully healthy, spend legit time together working on their crafts, playing ball, pushing each other, and developing on and off court chemistry. True team work. Don't get me wrong. They need to first get away for a bit and like I said, get healthy. But then, they need to (or I want them to) fully commit to getting better. P3 doesn't factor into that for me. Shooting does though. A ton of shooting.

**** the playoffs as a goal. I want the 4th seed and 52 wins.

i really really really don't want Rudy to play. It's not gonna help his game. He needs months off to freshen his legs and work on strength and ONE post up move that can be high %

Jazzfanz: We want tough and gritty players who play with fire and passion.

Jazzfanz: We want players who will sit out a chance to play for their country in the Olympics.

You putting things too much into a box here.
Yes we want tough gritty players players with fire and passion... But I don't think that you have to play in the Olympics to be tough, gritty, fiery, passionate players. I don't remember Charles oakley ever playing in the Olympics.

We want the guys to stay healthy, spend time with the team and coaches, and work on their game with teammates and coaches.

I'm ok with them playing in the olympics but I would just prefer that they don't. Also the Olympics don't resemble nba basketball all the closely so I'm not so sure it would help that much. (DL mentioned this today as well.... About the international game being way different than the nba game)

that's what i feel about Exum, i don't think they style of play he would be involved in and the amount of meaningful court time he would get will really help him that much.

Rudy played a LOT of games in the lead up and during the Eurobasket that i don't think really helped him. Got nothing to do with fire and grit.

Exum is certainly familiar with the value of sitting out games. The more he sits the greater he becomes. He sat his way to being the 5th pick in the draft. He sat some more and now he is our best (and only?) hope to get to the playoffs next year. If he does sit out the summer, he should be approaching all-star status as early as next season, I think. If he can somehow find yet another way to sit out even more games next season?... the sky is the limit.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm having hard time recalling a time that I laughed this hard to a post in the last few months.

In an ideal world, I would see a team spending most of the summer together to become a better team. But the schedule is really tough for NBA players. Gameday in every two days? Sheeesh. I would want to use the summer to get away from everything too. But some special players actually sacrifice anything to get better. I feel like Rudy is one of them. Success comes with this kind of ideal hardwork and there is no reason for the guys not to work out harder to achieve good things.

This season there were two major problems.

1) Injuries
2) Inability to close out games.

And no, I'm not gonna count the ref calls. I never appreciated anyone that does put them into account when the team loses too.

For the 1st problem, maybe they need to change some staff, maybe they need to reconsider their training schedule, maybe they need to take care of their players lives during the offseason. But this looks like this is becoming a trend and action needs to be taken by the Jazz.

For the 2nd one, it mostly gets better with experience. But the Jazz do lack the effort of making the shots when it matters the most. And this has been a major problem for the team ending in the record they have had. This one is Quin's problem I believe. But aside from that, the Jazz desperately need a real PG that has court vision, can run the court 35-38 minutes a game with keeping the pace up and always dishing it to the open while creating space. This would take a lot of burden from cutters and wings and Hayward would contribute a lot more.

Don't underestimate Olympics btw. Some intense stuff can go down in there in the most unexpected times. Cy has it more than many other American posters here when it comes to Euroballers and that game's mentality so he takes into account that for many athletes that are non US players, NT does mean the exact same thing with fire and passion. Nationalism stuff. But the intensity level changes from team to team, player to player.

I get what you're saying though. And I do agree with your point. There is no necessity for a player to commit to his NT for him to be called a passionate and fired up player.

This. Come back energetic and just a tiny bit better on offense. 11 points per game and I'd be content.

There's a difference between being tough and gritty and being stupid. Gobert is stupid if he plays for France. Yep, I said it. I don't care if anyone disagrees. It's not 1984 anymore. No one gives a **** about the Olympics. That ship has sailed. Because if he commits and it deters his progress, even if he wins the Gold, I can tell you, no one, 15 years from now is going to remember that Gold. They'll remember Rudy Gobert being an underachieving disappointment just like every other "could've been great" player that's been through this league. In essence, he'll be an afterthought. But if he's smart, and works not just hard but smart (ie, rest), he could become great. Hell, he could become immortal.

you affect a stupid bluntness with the best of them.

Rudy needs rest right now. He knows it, too. He may choose to play anyway, but he'll know that he's pushing into the red.

people would remember if France won gold. People still remember Argentina. That's not going to happen, though, with or without Rudy.

If they would have invited Oakley he would have been there. The point is real competitors dont turn down chances to compete against the best. I know if I where a NBA player, American or foreign, I would 100% play in the Olympics if invited.

I don't remember. Many don't. Most don't give a ****. The Olympics are an afterthought now.

The amount of selfishness as a fan to chastise a player for wanting to play in the Olympics is ridiculous.

In the big picture, more people would probably care if France won the Olympics than if Utah won a NBA championship.

Real competitors? Many all-time studs have turned it down. Give me a break.

you're wrong, but don't let that stop you from speaking for "most" people. You've forgotten = everybody has forgotten. Gotcha. The Olympics matters to Rudy, too.

Rudy should rest and then work on his offense. That's the bottom line.
