Rumor: Jazz prepared to match 'any offer' for Hayward.

I am pretty sure that Burks has been superseded by Exum.

I don't know about that. I must wait and watch a decent amount of Exum against inside protectors NBA level. I love his ability to drive contact on layups and his pace and speed. He is so willing to compete in the air. But this is also Burks' profession and I don't think I exaggerate when I say Burks has one of the best balances in the air when he is up there against competition laying it up. He has great potential and a major part of that is waiting there to be lit by a more major role and the guy believing in himself to become something that neither he nor people around him imagined. He has a great base to build up on to become a multiple all-star.

I also might argue Favors' ceiling is higher.

Me too, but after last season, Favors had kinda hit some contract wall. He is absolutely my favorite player on the team because of his attitude. Hope he explodes more next season.

It's all posturing to keep his price "reasonable". How often do teams do this with players they want to keep? Pretty *bleep* often. The FO have an "up to" price they will pay. A bit over and they'll consider it. Ludicrously over and they won't. It's as simple as that.

And I'd really surprised (though it isn't like this never happens) if another team would want to grossly over pay a player like Hayward. It essentially means they must think he's the perennial all-star that'll push them over the top. I'll be surprised if doesn't walk with a nice offer, but I think it'll be within range for the Jazz to sign and just high enough to make this board completely come unglued.

I think DL's doing a nice job of staggering talent so they don't all come due at once. Another reason I think Neto waits a year...

Haygod is the best thing that has happened to this franchise.... you little ******* need to shut the H311 up...

Now graval before his feet.... He may still forgive you.

BTW Just FYI because this is in the news and we are talking bout the jazz this tweet is false,
Jazz never let news slip out unless they want it to.... I think we all know it a fake tweet to create some publicity. and we are here on jazzfanz freaking out. sounds like its just that the off season and it is already getting to us.... Cant wait for the season to start already!!!

The thing is $12m - $13m is not franchise crippling money. This is not an AK, Joe Johnson, Gilbert Arenas contract. The Jazz have one of the best, if not the best, cap situations in the league so it won't keep them from giving the real max to the right player. Really look at what Hayward brings to the table and realize with more experience he will get more consistent. He's a 16/5/5 guy who will shoot better with better teammates and a better system. The Jazz have invested a lot into his development. You match whatever and move on.

Yep. Hayward will get a lot more than many of us think he should. GM's are just going to throw away last season. It was an outlier. Gordon was being asked to do everything and the whole team was beaten down by losing and the slow plodding offense of Ty Corbin. Even with the terrible season, he's a career 44%/37% shooter who averaged 16/5/5. Not too many guards put up those kind of numbers, especially at 6'8." I have a feeling Quin is going to use Gordon a LOT differently than Corbin did. Hawyward probably won't average as many assists, not with Burke and Exum running the show, but he'll be much more efficient and the up-tempo, ball motion offense should play to his strengths.

12 million is as much as I would want to go, I'd prefer 10 though. As for the cap, well it is finally good again after shedding a bunch of bad contracts. No reason to start making new contracts that will end up bad and new cap issues.

There are more teams with LOTS of cap space this year than usual so I expect GH to get overpaid a bit. I suspect he gets 12 mil per year for about 4 years.

BIG-AL is the best thing happened to this franchise. You can graval before his feet, but no mercy he will show !!!!

I am thinking teams will be overspending this year. The Heat 3some opted out so they can stay together and add pieces in Miami. Decent chance that Melo stays in NYC. Simply put, multiple teams are clearing cap space hoping to have a shot at these guys and if they stay put, there will be money to spend. Sorting through all of the information my understanding is that the Jazz offered GH 4 years at 50M last year. I am betting they will pay more than that if they want to keep him.

Well if they are willing to pay him more than why not do it last year? I think the Jazz are taking a chance that he won't get a better offer, this might not happen but that is why I believe they let him hit FA.
