Rumors Swirling

Mostly true... I think Niang's presence does hurt the ability to develop another guy if Quin won't give that player some run. Niang over Oni (and others) was the right play to win most regular season games. I don't know if Quin can let go of that in the regular season.

That said... Niang on a minimum deal is something I will sign up for again. It sounds like he is out... but I'm curious what his FA looks like.
Sure, but at the end of the day that's a Quin issue or a Quin/FO issue, not a Niang issue. Niang in no way prevented the Jazz from signing a Torrey Craig. Niang would in no way prevent Craig from playing in the Clippers series (where a Craig would be much more effective, but in a Memphis series I think a guy like Niang has more value).

It's also really hard to believe Ingles, a guy who has publicly said that retiring next season is a high possibility (if not a certainty), is going to get you some kind of upgrade. The only thing Ingles would fetch you would be an asset with less current value, but more future value.

No doubt. Someone like the Sixers would make sense for Ingles. A team who can win it all and doesn’t mind trading the 28th pick in the draft if they think it gets them over the hump. He’s actually be a really nice fit there. But I can’t see any team doing that until right before the deadline.

His name in rumors makes zero sense unless the acquiring team is straight stupid and doesn't know what the deal is here. Ingles being used as just an expiring contract does not net a value greater than Ingles. He's also like one of the only really flexible pieces we have... I don't buy any Ingles trade chatter at all.
The only thing it would make sense for is just salary purposes to facilitate a big trade.

Also the wording on Bojan and Joe is kinda funny here... they are on the table for a significant upgrade... yeah no ****... guess what so are Rudy and Don if we get a significant upgrade.

I found that part really funny. Like why would a team just going to give us a significant upgrade for Bogey or Ingles? What's in it for them?

Fit, need, and contracts. Would Bojan and Ingles help the Sixers more than Tobias Harris? And vice versa…not saying they do or they don’t. But that’s why.

It would honestly have to be something where it was an injury and Joe was going to be done... then you use him as an expiring contract.

Not that you are saying this but I think Harris might be a downgrade from Bojan... and I like Harris. That's why its hard to see a deal that makes sense... like if Portland says we will do Dame and we want Bojan and Ingles... great... let's do it. I just don't see any good deal that is out there with Joe. I could see Indiana saying they'd do Brogdon for Bojan and us liking that deal if Conley bails.

I think the FO may throw stuff out there to see what gets offered but I doubt someone wants to give us 1.25 on the dollar for Bogey or Joe.

That’s one offer that makes some sense. I think I’d prefer Rozier for Bogey and I think that makes more sense for the teams involved. I’m sure there’s another team or two where he could be traded as well.

I'd only do that deal if we lost Mike or had a great home for JC lined up. I don't think Terry would want to come off the bench. I can see a decent trade for Bogey being out there... what I don't see is the trade where we move both of them and get something that is a "significant upgrade".

There is a case that maybe Tobias is that, but I think he's just a guy you always want to give you more or gets a little overrated because of his numbers. I think when he was a FA you could make the case that he has more creation value... but its hard to make that case now. I like him as a player but don't think Bojan+Joe for Tobias makes us better at all.

No doubt about it being only if Mike is gone. Which I think he will be. I think Tony Jones’s “running it back” is very wishful thinking. Or that we stupidly pay Mike something like 3/80M, dump Favors and try to move Bogey for a lesser player (and salary), thus clearly NOT truly running it back.
