What's new

Run it Back

Not going to have any great new insight here, but I've been thinking about it the last few days and I really think it's the way to go.

I'm no cap savant, but I do know that it is way easier to keep our own player than to sign new ones. So it's not a 1:1 to offer Lowry the same amount as Hill, and it's not crazy to match an Ingles contract. I say **** it. If the Hill and Hayward are willing to stay I say we make it happen.

We won't be better than the Warriors, but you really want to go back to the tank after we just got out of it? We could easily be a top 3 team in the West next year with another year of growth, and more injury luck.

-We know Hood can be better
-Favors can't really be LESS healthy, maybe he goes back to being really solid
-Hayward has gotten better every year, why not again?
-Rudy could take another big leap
-Burks, I mean I've basically given up on him. But he can't be worse.
-Lyles, who knows.
And Dante, maybe we finally see a special season from him. And can get excited about his future.

That's a damn good team with so much potential to get better. And I think you could get Hayward to buy into it. We also have two first round picks, maybe we fall in love with a player in the Kawhi range and give both our picks plus Hood to get him, taking a chance at getting another star.

The absolute worst case scenario running it back with a big three of Hill Hayward and Gobert is the season we just had. And this season was great after so much losing, sign me up.

I understand wanting to go into hibernation and try to contend in five years, but that just sounds ****ing awful to me, after we just went through it. No we won't be 'better' than the Warriors, but **** can happen in five years. The Mavs just kept on running it back, and eventually struck gold. It could happen with us too. And if not we still good a really good stretch of basketball.

Agreed. Plus we have two 1st rounders, two 2nd rounders, Bolomboy could emerge, AND we have two more 1sts next year. If all these picks can produce one more starter caliber player, we are looking ****ing good and can take down the Dubs in two years. Maybe three.

Burks has to go if we keep all three of Hill, Hayward and Ingles. Diaw won't be traded unless we're getting something decent in return as part of a larger deal because we cannot afford to take back salary. Even though he doesn't make much, I'm open to moving Lyles for future considerations.

Ideally, if we didn't have to worry about hitting the luxury tax, I'd love to move Burks and Lyles for Tyson Chandler.

What if Favors was 100%?
What if Burks was 100%?
What if Hood was 100%?
What if Hill was 100%?

If we had a fully healthy squad we'd probably still be fighting with Golden State. I say do it. Make a few tweaks, maybe try and trade up in the draft and Lonzo Ball falls into our laps. That name being said around here is probably like nails on a chalkboard but the kid isn't the problem, his dad is. Therefor his value may drop to where we can pry him away.

GSW is head and heals above the Jazz. It's not close. If that's what you want to root for then that's what you want.

Now that the players have developed, we just need to bring Corbin back and we can take them out in 6-7 games.

Historic, actually. Pretty sure no team has ever done that before.

I actually think we were a 60 win team this year if 4/5ths of our starting lineup didn't miss significant time due to injury. Starters combined for, I believe, 100 missed games. I think it was 14-2 when we had our starting lineup.
