OK, so technically not hit, but when a 10 ton rock explodes over your head with the force of a nuclear bomb you may as well have been hit.

Interesting that this preceded today's near miss by a much larger asteroid by just a few hours. I wonder how many other 10 ton asteroids are trailing their larger sister?

So many speculations over Tunguska Event that took place a century ago. Now we have this. I hope the bigger rocks stay away.

Not confirmed yet but this meteorite has obvious chance to be a part of the comet that passed really close to set a record. It was closer than the meteorology satellites.

The near miss today is coming back in 2020 and they are not so sure it will miss us then...

Not a global killer but if it does hit it will be devestating to that general area. Like a Manhatten Island sized area...

Yeah great jinx us now!!!

Russia got a really good chance of getting hit by a meteor for geocrophical reasons. I mean its a very poor chance of it to hit Malta, NK or Vatican right? Think about what would happen if it hit the Vatican. All Radical Catholics would think that "Its a sign, god cursed all of us because of Pope's resignation." Would be a complete chaos.

Um, yeah, right.....meteor.

Babe?

great call can.

yah, I'm the guy who is first on the street with the word.

so I have seen some meteors in my lifetime, all at night. If there was a smoke trail I didn't know it. But you're right, the video of that smoke trail raised some immediate questions in my mind. I'll have to study it some more, though.

first take it did look more like two events not just one. The camera onboard a vehicle turned a slight bend in the road, and the smoke that had appeared closer was then more distant. The first smoke trail looked wobbly, or not a straight line, but it could have been after some minute or two and the wind currents and such. . . . and possibly a rock flying through the atmosphere, if irregular in shape, could spiral or something. . . . but it does raise a question.

the second one, with the bright flash was higher and farther away, did not wobble, and could have been a missle overtaking something and exploding.

as of now, officially, I know nothing (as I usually start out). More later. If I think I have anything worth talking about. . . .

OK, so I looked at that clip about five times.

first vapor trail was something we see a lot nowadays, jet vapor trails.

the other thing could've been. . . . a rocket or satellite on re-entry or any kind of space junk. It didn't look like anything intercepted it to what I could see.

I could dream of having a good spectroscope trained on it when it flashed. . . . could give us the chemical composition of the flashing materials. Magnesium fires burn with that white light. . . . l

we have a meteor passing close to earth today. . . . this could be a fragment perhaps.

there will probably be some kind of "expert" on Coast to Coast tonight explaining that this is the war of the greys versus the Pleiades Command which rules our neighborhood of the Milky Way. . . . lots of things are "possible".

I saw that but you biffed your own thread and nothing worked so I created a thread that works. ;-)

When I made my thread and the video didn't work I was going to fix it but the whole fuzzy picture that showed was kinda creepy when you added in my title and I was tired so I just left the link incase anyone wanted to see the real video...

Anyways good on ya for starting a thread!!!

I spend alot of nights in the summer outside hoping to see something like this. Have seen my fair share of fireballs (as they are called) Two to three nice ones just last summer alone. Could it be there is a nice cluster of them we have been passing through? Scary stuff, I think it's time we get serious about finding a way to push these away from earth...

I don't believe this was a satellite, piece of a rocket or another of our space trash. They tend to break into many pieces and not explode like this. Scary but pretty awesome stuff today!

Great, 2020 is the new 2012.

More hope for Christians.
