What's new

Ryan Anderson

I'd suggest the Jazz cut NWG but they would never allow that egg on their face. I'm still not sure why he was signed, especially not over Neto.

Gawd damn it I hate when we agree.

Jk I don't care at all I'm just trying to be subtle and passive aggressive about our past disagreements.

Idiot. ;)

UNLEASH BRANTLEY

Yes. Needs burn. Could he be any worse than Bradley at the 5? While Bradley has been wasting away on the bench and occasional Stars games, Brantley has been playing competitive basketball.

Moreover, watching those highlights of the Stars’ offense was what I was anticipating the Jazz’s offense would look like.

I’d love Noah at the 5 if he can play a decent 14 minutes a night. The defense, rebounding, passing and effort. He’d bring an energy we sorely lack on the unit. I also think he’d offer more fluidity in how Quin manages his rotations. Maybe bring in Ingles halfway through the 1st and have Bojan sit for the rest of the quarter but then come back in at the start of the 2nd (for the whole quarter) and play with Ingles, Noah, Mudiay and Exum for about 7 minutes.

Joe slumping has really sucked the life out of that unit... Locke had a good point though... he's rolling with no passers. Mudiay - No, Green - Nah, Bradley - Nope... so it might not be the best fit for him. The other issue might be the big screen setters. Davis can't catch and finish, Bradley doesn't set great picks and is not the smartest basketball player... so I'm not sure he's in a great situation to succeed.

I agree on Anderson... I think the long-term issue that we need to solve is backup center. Locke talked about running Green there so Dante could take up Jeff's wing minutes. So our third year center... break-glass in case of emergency guy... might not be good enough to play 12 minutes a night... good thing we picked up that option.

If the locker room stuff is not an issue I'd say go get Joakim Noah. I'm not sure he's an issue I just think he's a different dude... he produced well in Memphis... can defend well, elite big for passing, has lots of energy... we ain't got time for Bradley to become an okay backup right now.

Joe is getting many of the same looks that he got last year. He's just shooting 32% on wide open looks. Its not a lack of passers, the ball just won't go down.

Unfortunately - and understandably - Anderson's game took a downturn after his girlfriend's suicide. She was the most known cast member of that Bachelor show. Hanged herself. Supposedly he was the one who found her. I always rooted for him after that. His game was still decent but clearly there was something missing.

Then sign both him and Jeff Withey.

I would rather have Joakim than Ryan Anderson or Niang. Last season Noah showed he can still play.

Davis is better than Noah. As far as power forwards, I still like Taj Gibson as he's a) attainable and affordable and doesn't come at a premium (draft picks) and b) he's a great defender. Exum for Taj straight up, works for both teams. Sure Morris is sexier cause he can hit the three, but he would come at a premium, if at all, will probably cost us O'Neale, and he's got a reputation as a cancer. As far as retreads, how about Jamal Crawford? We need another professional assassin like back in the Joe Johnson era, cause we can't seem to close out games for squat.

I could go for Noah. He looked decent last season and Bradley isn't cutting it. Really don't care who of the deep bench gets cut (well, preferably not Oni, a true rookie deserves some more time)

I like the Jamal Crawford idea. For a team like Utah who often has trouble finding more players who can create their own shot, I always thought Crawford would be a good fit. He doesn't have to play a lot and you can probably run the same plays for him as you do for Mitchell. Crawford can fill in for 10-12 minutes a game to give Mitchell a break. He would be available at the veteran's minimum too.

There is also Joe Johnson. He was the last man cut by the Pistons, as they went for youth and versatility. JJ obviously has a history with Utah and I assume it ended amicably. I think what he can give to Utah for 10 minutes a game is more and more important than what some of the other guys can.

Exum and filler for Jordan Clarkson who’s an expiring.

The Cavs prob won’t re-sign him and get something for him. We get someone who can:

1) Play some point
2) Be a legit scorer off the bench
3) Age well with our core

Conley-Mudiay
Mitchell-Clarkson
Bogdonovic-Ingles
O’Neale-Green
Gobert-Bradley

Acquiring him makes things a lot easier for Joe off the bench. It offers Quin far more lineup fluidity than we have now. If we like what we see, we can reup him. If not, it’s like getting out of Exum’s deal a year early.

Maybe it would take a 2nd or two, but nobody is giving up a 1st for Clarkson.

Not that I'd want him, but I'd give Donatas Motiejunas a look before Ryan. That said, I'd have to be pretty drunk and not me to give either of them a look.

Jamal Crawford > NWG.
Ryan Anderson > Niang
Bogut > Bradley.

Waive all three and get these guys.

Interesting, I wasn't aware that Johnson was available again. Either or, at the vet's minimum as you say. It's nice having an ace like that up your sleeve.;)

They'd have to be blind to let it happen as I think he's the best player on that team, but hell yeah, that'd be a coup.

The Rockets have waived Ryan Anderson. I don't know how much he has left in the tank but the Jazz have the second worst bench in the league, averaging just 26.7 points a game on 40% shooting and 31% from 3. In November we're only averaging 23.4 points a game on 38.6% shooting and 27% from 3. There's no way around it, our bench desperately needs more scoring and shooting. He has to be better than Niang and might very well be better than Jeff Green too. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work out and he takes a roster spot from one of our scrubs at the end of the bench that's never going to see playing time anyway. Best case scenario, he gives our bench a much needed boost.

Why do you fail to leave out the stats that matter? Before I get to the stats that matter; based on your claims that the Jazz bench is the 2nd worst in the NBA (which isn't accurate, they have the 2nd to last in bench scoring, but overall NET rating is 20th in the NBA) Room to improve? = yes. So going back to stats that matter; what makes you think that Ryan Anderson is going to improve or even help our issue?
If your looking for scoring and shooting why would we get it from a guy that has been on 5 different Rosters in the last 3 years? Why would we get it from a guy who has shot 19/85 = 22% from deep over the last 2 years? If we need bench scoring, then why would we target a guy who is averaging 1.3 ppg since leaving Houston 2 years ago? He's scored 68 points in 52 games over 3 roster in the last 2 years. This is the guy that you decide to start a thread about? This is the guy that you see as being the one to add value and fix problems? What are you expecting to find that Houston, Toronto, Phoenix and Miami didn't?

If only someone, anyone, wanted Exum and his contract
