Ryan Smith Will Run This Team Into the Ground Then Sell

That's not how NBA value works ..
But you do agree that running a team into the ground is the best way to get as much value from the team as possible when you are planning to sell right?

I don't think Ryan Smith thinks he is doing this, but it's what's going to happen.

The NBA teams value will just continue to rise and when you sell to Seattle you are going to get the bag

I'll be curious if the trades are setup around money motivation - look for the keyword "flexibility" when the local media dissect the trade. Maybe they are oriented around a younger crew to work with Donovan and Rudy... or if they decide to split up Donovan and Rudy.

I think re-tooling around Rudy and Donovan with younger players is the most likely option. The trick will be doing it while also keeping Donovan happy, he definitely isn't going to want to want the team to take a step back...I'm just not sure how we get younger AND stay as competitive as we are now. If we go out in the first round or in the second round in embarrassing fashion again then splitting up Don and Rudy becomes more of a possibility, but I still don't think it's likely to happen...at least not yet.

I don't think he has any intention of selling but I can see him running it into the ground. The Millers let basketball people run the show and he is putting himself in the middle of all decisions and surrounding himself with friends. That is not a recipe for success. At least we will be known for the ugliest uniforms.

It is his new billion dollar toy. He is playing with it like a kid putting stickers on his GI Joe trucks. Gotta make it look cool! Pew pew!! It can shoot!! Look out Cobra!! Maybe he is Sid from Toy Story. Break his toys apart and create horrific new versions of them with their random parts. Doesn't matter if it works as intended, it will be SO...FREAKING...COOL!!!

Seriously get a weird jr high vibe from him and what he is doing with the franchise. Strange. I guess in my 50's I am just getting old and not in touch with these young 40 year old whippersnappers.

And by the way, that Sid kid was a complete psychopath and needed outside help. I mean, damn!

Well of course he will run it into the ground and then sell. Thats just good business. It is what every successful business owner does. Acquire a business, decrease its value as much as possible, then sell.
Unless of course you are a VC company, then you strip it of all cash and assets, run it into the ground, and then sell it to a declining company that wants to make it look like they are still growing... on the cheap while including a golden parachute for yourself. It's a tried and true VC method of getting your money back and then some. Of course it leads to "global warming", but you don't care if you are a VC.

VC means vulture capital, right? Haha! I had a job that was a casualty of shuttering and liquidation so I might be a little biased…

Yep. I'm sure there are some VC's that actually try to run a company and help out while making money too, but I've seen too many of the vulture culture as well. lol

Over our entire franchise history, we have been an odd ball in the league. Players have refused playing for us. People have bashed us. Some have mocked us. We have contended for two seasons, but our stars of that era weren't the type guys to bring us tons of fanfare and popularity.

I have faith that Ryan, Dwayne Wade and company will make us a more desirable location. They can't make us "cool", but they can make us less "undesirable". If we could just be made to be considered "just another place", Ryan has made great strides for the franchise.

So no Cy, I don't believe Ryan is going to grind us down then sell us. I think he's going to give us more personality, more likability, and improve our brand for everybody. That's a good thing.

I dont care to speak on the selling part. but the sooner the better this team gets run into the ground, the better. Then they can build it back up properly.

U still cant convince me that the ills of the early 2000's knicks, overpaying vets to try and patch holes in the roster, havent been learned here. N the sooner it fails, the sooner they can start over.
