What's new

Same feeling as 06-07 season

Before you go crazy - no, I'm not saying we're headed for the WCF. But I haven't been as excited about the Jazz since I was during that season. D-Will obviously emerged as arguably the best PG in the league that year, and we hadn't seen anything like it in a long time. What he brought to the court, and how much better he made his teammates, made Jazz games insanely fun to watch that year.

Even though we don't have the same level of veteran talent as that squad did, I think this team is going to be the same in that EVERY game will be fun. They seem to be playing with a sense of confidence that they can murk any team in the league, and that in itself will make games where we're 'outmatched' fun and competitive.

An injury or two will probably take the wind out of the sails pretty quickly, so hopefully we can stay healthy and let the chips fall where they may. I'm not going to make any predictions, but I do know that prior to the 06-07 season not many people even talked about the Jazz as a legit team in the West.

Our time is coming!

1. The 05/06 Jazz went 41-41, with a rookie Deron and Boozer playing only 33 games. 2 of 13 polled at NBA.com and 4 of 16 polled at espn.com had the Jazz winning the NW division in 06/07. People expected the Jazz to improve.

2. Deron didn't really emerge as arguably the best PG in the league until 07/08. Steve Nash put up 18.6 and 11.6 on .532/.455/.899, leading the Suns to a 61-win season.

Deron was amazing during those early years with us. Wonder what his legacy will be as compared to what it could have been if he had just not be such an *** and embraced the team.

We didn't have TY-frogvoicedcan'tcoach-CORBIN in 06/07.

Maybe there is a correlation.

If I were addicted to heroine, I would take a hit every time I heard the word 'Ty'. "Honey, you should put on a tie for the reception" - HIT! "What are you wearing for halloween... 70's tie die shirts" - HIT! RSL vs. Timbers in Portland when RSL needs a win - HIT! Amudson - Hit! Mike Tyson - HIT!

The single biggest change from 2013 to 2014 is the coach. Now Gobert looks like a steal, Gordon looks like a good deal, Favors looks like superman, Burkes looks like a veteran, and Exum looks like a top 3 pick. It looks like we won't be tied (HIT) to the bottom of the league anymore.

LOL - the attitude around here at the beginning of the 2006 season sucked (like it often does) chiefly because Boozer was a loser, Okur couldn't guard anyone, the game passed Sloan by and Utah screwed up by taking DW in front of CP3. It wasn't till about 20 games in before people started believing.

Things are way more uptimistic now

Not all of us are clueless bandwagon fans. I was foaming at the mouth for the season once we saw a glimpse of what D-Will was capable of. I'm sure several other Jazz fans were wildly optimistic from the jump during that season, just not the majority.

Many here share the level of excitement and enthusiasm, but let's not compare this absolutely diffetent basketball culture team and enjoy the ride.

If I were addicted to heroine...

This one?
