What's new

Santa is white. Is it wrong?

I always assumed Jesus was more arab less persian looking. Really though I don't really care.

It does bring up an interesting point. The whole race thing is imo antiquated. I would like to see race replaced with a skin tone rating(Pale to dark) on government forms. Not only would it help to break the discontinuous thought patterns that we hold about race but would tell us more about the persons actual complexion. I would be fine with keeping an ethnicity category but our current framework to define race is ****ed.

I'm sure National Geographic has more revealing photos than this one. Someone ought to have a subscription delivered to him.

Memo and Enes are Turks. Levantine and Turkic people are not closely related. Do you consider Arabs "white" in general?

So you agree that Memo and Enes are white, but they are whiter then Jews, Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians?
How about this interesting data:

Genetic analysis suggests that a majority of the Muslims of Palestine, inclusive of Arab citizens of Israel, are descendants of Christians, Jews and other earlier inhabitants of the southern Levant whose core may reach back to prehistoric times. A study of high-resolution haplotypes demonstrated that a substantial portion of Y chromosomes of Israeli Jews (70%) and of Palestinian Muslim Arabs (82%) belonged to the same chromosome pool.

Looks to me that those Middle East Arabs are pretty "whitewashed". I do have couple friends from Palestine BTW, besides brown eyes and black hair their skin is as white as mine as nobody would ever call them brown.

I'm Turkish. I've been to several countries across Europe. In Italy, most of the people thought we were Italian with my wife, in Spain, we were Spanish. Our genes are almost the same with Greeks, Italians, Spanish, Albanians or Croatians. There is not a distinctive feature that stands us apart from most of the European folk. In fact, we're quite different from Arabs which many confuse that Turks have Arabic origin.

Anatolia was the center of culture for many millenia. Many tribes invaded the land and they were mixed. Everybody didn't slaughtered everyone in the land, just culture was changed. I can't even track my origin. My ancestors might be Hitit or Lydian. The same applies with Enes or Memo.

Turk is a word that used as from Anatolia, as in American. It doesn't imply decendance.

So they have similar male ancestry. What of their female ancestry?

We need a COFFEE SCALE for skin tones, or how about using Pantone numbers?

That Asian kid's head is HUGE.

I thought her head was nicely proportioned (at least, I'm assuming "her" from the long hair on #11, which could be a mistake).

It looks to me like #1, #2, and #4 have heads about the same size.

you are just grabbing straws here. If anything males were more responsible for spreading their genes in that period of time.

Going how far back? How wide-spread is this pool?
