Shin Splints

Ok so I have already tried some $150 dollar nike running shoes and it did no good. Our community has a very nice indoor lap pool. I will try swimming every day for a couple weeks.

Also if anyone has any recomendations for shoes or places to buy shoes where they know about this stuff I would appriciate it.

yeah swimming is the best workout for weight loss.
problem with swimming is you get hungry and tend to eat more, you should resist that temptation to eat more then you usually do.

i gained about 20kgs in about a year because my ankle was turned bad and stop sporting.
after that i decided to lose the weight.

you should also eat good stuff, healthy. but watch your calorie intake about 1250-1750.
if you diet you should have a rest/fun day. a day when you get to eat anything you like as much as you like.
so dieting doesnt get boring. so you can have eat what you want 1 day in the week. gives you something to look foward to.

about shoes dont know much about shoes.

I'm passive-aggressive about weight loss. I'm passive about exercise and aggressive about cheeseburgers.

Heath Bell(former Padres' closer and new Marlins closer) had a pretty funny shirt, "I am in shape, round is a shape." I found that pretty funny.

I've spent a lot of money on shoes and orthotics (and surgery) for all this. Sometimes the cheaper stuff has worked better than the expensive stuff. Mostly trial and error. Sometimes I felt like the guy at the shoe store knew more than my doctor and sometimes not. I'd say find a podiatrist and have them take a good look at your feet. Start there I guess.

Do you live in SLC? If so Wasatch Running is a good place for shoes and they know what they are doing. I tried New Balance up in Sugarhouse once and not happy.

How do you walk? I forget the terms but there are basically two kinds of runners, those who feet have a tendency to roll in, and those with a tendency who roll out (or something like that). Certain shoes are designed to help you compensate for your natural tendencies. When I bought my running shoes they had one of the workers watch me walk/run and then recommenced me a certain type of shoe that helped out reducing my discomfort running.

I had shin splints for 6 months. Got sick had to quite playing basketball they went away.
I was told when I went back to play (by a doctor/friend) to stretch better, drink water an hour before playing and to buy shoes with arch support. I now do all of those things after 2 years I have not had them come back. The shoes are bought were just basketball specific that seemed to have more arch support. Had 2 pairs now and always buy the ones with the support.

Pronate? I believe that's what your describing. The pronation of your feet is key. That's why I like trying several different running shoes to see which one best supports the stupid way I run. I naturally walk like a duck. I wish my parents would have corrected this hereditary disorder when I was young.
