Sign and Trade Boozer?

2 Pt. Post.

Would some explain how a Boozer sign and trade could work? If Boozer were to agree to a sign and trade, what would be his incentive to do so? How could the Jazz make sure he doesn't just walk so it works out for both parties involved?

Did anyone read this article? https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AnY4lbpFqEb0iVXjKyFtNwY5nYcB?slug=ys-boshwade062910
Sounds like the Raptors are hoping for a Bosh sign and trade - and looking for some serious value in return. It seems like the Jazz should be doing the same thing.

well ... Boozer is benefited by a (possibly) longer contract and more money than he might have otherwise. Sooo many moving parts to type at 1 a.m. though. :)

My prediction is no S&T and no Boozer ... and that's okay. A S&T is sexier but understanding the rules (I think), not likely. Scroll down for others threads with info.

I guess it was after reading the article about the Raptors trying to get D. Lee, Beasley, Taj Gibson/Noah in return for Bosh (before he walks) that made me wonder if the Jazz F.O. had any chance of swaying Boozer to participate in a similar scenario.

Late night = run on sentences.

Carmelo Anthony(notes) has one more year left on his contract with the Denver Nuggets before he can opt out of it and become an unrestricted free agent. The Nuggets are feeling like he may do just that and the team "is prepared to trade Melo rather than let him walk" next summer, according to a source for the Denver Post.

That's novel. Trade an asset before it's gone. Come on F.O.

I would think Boozer would rather stay here than play in Toronto & as S&T for David Lee won't help our team.
A S&T for Eddy Curry (expiring ~12M) & Wilson Chandler is appealing (tradable assets) than having Millsap & Lee on the court together.

For sure. I was thinking the idea of a sign and trade was a winner - not necessarily for the above mentioned players.

I agree. Moreover, maybe Curry would start playing up to his potential (of course after losing some body fat) under the coaching of the Cruel Jerry.

The Curry saga is soo dysfunctional and deep it's mind boggling - the latest is he defaulted on a hush payment to some 14 year old that he knocked up.

I doubt any team would want to be associated with this idiot - as a player, tradeable asset, expiring contract or whatever.

The larger point of that article illustrates we wouldn't need to take on dead weight like Curry. The rumored deal with Bosh going to Miami, for example, doesn't technically work under normal trade parameters. Beasley, Chalmers, and Anthony top out at like 7 million. Miami makes it work by converting the rest into a TPE because they're under the cap. Boozer deals are likely going to focus on bringing back a small chip and getting the rest in a TPE. Some say it doesn't benefit Boozer's destination to give up chips for a player they can sign outright, but giving back any salary maximizes their ability to retain cap space in going after more free agents so there is some incentive.
