SLTRiB: No official announcement, but Jazz have tendered qualifying offer to FES

Portland had a chance to screw up the Lakers by trying to offer Odom a large contract when Odom was upset by the Lakers' initial offer, but they opted for Andre Miller, so I think we are safe.
Um, Portland did "screw up" the Jazz, at least financially, by signing Millsap to a contract for more $$ than Utah wanted to pay. Utah begrudgingly matched.

Good guess, but he's going to law school. Inside sources have confirmed this.

Speaking as someone who has gone to law school (and once publically considered quitting on the old board) I can unequivocally state that this is a mistake. I would have traded jobs with him every day of the week.

It's not about titles. It is about leveraging ones experience and contacts within the sports world, combined with a law degree to be team counsel somewhere.

Yeah but it's tough telling everyone you're the smartest guy in the world when you're just some beat writer.

But it's easy to tell everyone you've got the best job imaginable.

As for leveraging his team contacts: people have short memories. Have fun trying to get them to still think of you fondly when you've been gone for three years cloistered in some academic institution and you don't have any actual legal experience yet.

I would put the odds of him being a team's in-house counsel out of law school at exactly 0%.
