Yeah, we use to do that all the time.
 
Yesterday the group drawing for the 2014 World Championship in Brazil took place.
Germand and the USA in the same group joined by Ghana and Portugal.
I think from Germany's point it doesn't really matter with whom you're grouped. You gotta advance anyways.
What's your take?
 
Some FIFA rankings were very weird before draw. How come Belgium and Switzerland were ranked higher then Portugal or France? That's why we have messed up groups now.
 
The new seeding policy is just crap. It created 3 Groups of Death, including the one the U.S. is in.

We're in trouble, that's for sure.

I think those 2 were the result of them finishing 2nd in their respective groups and having the extra qualification game. That eliminated them from seeding via FIFA rankings properly.
 
I'm a bit more optimistic that we have a good shot at getting to the round of 16. Of course Germany will win the group with 9 points but I really think we can get 4 points which should get us through. Beat Ghana and draw with Portugal. That should be enough.

I heard that somewhere else. Aiming for a draw. It puzzles me a little that even real players aimed for a draw. I listened for a whole hour to a SBNation post draw coverage with some real players interviewed in between.
They were not exactly optimistic which is very unheard of for athletes.
Btw I'm not so sure Germany will advance easily. I mean they have expectation wise, but with all the defender being injured constantly we could be vulnerable there.
