Somewhere Harpring is Sad

It's just odd that with all the favoritism the Jazz got from the refs, and all the support that Stockton and Malone got from great role players like Harpring, they couldn't win one championship during their entire careers. Something doesn't add up.

I don't know what is so difficult about this.
You guys keep wanting to talk about what Harpring did in his best year, and act like he did that every year in his career.
Are you seriously suggesting that Harping could rebound and defend the paint as rookie as well as Favors or Kanter, or pass and handle the ball as well as a rookie as Burks and Hayward?
I made it to post 11 and I can't take the idiocy. One day you're going to think back on this thread and realize you are being a serious twit. Let's assume that every one of these guys has a career better than Harpring. Does that make Matt a bad guy for giving it everything he possibly could during his career? If you don't think he deserved to be on the team that's your prerogative, but if you were in his shoes and someone had been willing to pay you to play basketball I highly doubt you would have said, "No thanks, I'm not worthy," which is what you seem to be suggesting Harpring should have done. From my perspective he looked to be a guy who put it all out there, even to the extent of sacrificing his body and his future health for the good of his team. He believed that laying a hard foul on the opposition was the right way to play. Lots of people, including me, agree with his mantra of toughness. Maybe you should switch to watching Bonnet Ball.

I never said Matt was a bad guy. I think the team should take this opportunity of a changeover in personnel to radically to change their image, and never again have a reputation as a team that fouls a lot OR plays dirty.

Refs don't listen to broadcasters ether.

You don't know that. Stop making stuff up. Besides, refs have families and friends, and they listen to broadcasts, and they talk to the refs. Same goes for coaches, writers, other broadcasters, message board people, players, and everybody else who lives on planet earth.

You guys just keep saying things that don't make any sense.

PS: Players do listen to broadcasts.

I am done with this discussion. My lack of any further posting on this thread does not preclude the likelihood that any contrary opinions expressed here are as nonsensical as all the preceding ones.

Jordan and Olajuwon were better.

Not that hard to add THAT up.

What a ridiculous thread. Harpring was playing at an All-Star level the year after Stock and Malone left, but went down with a serious injury. After that he was never quite the same as he continued getting injured and the problem with his knees worsened. Before he came to the Jazz, he had always been a solid and much better than average player. Neither Burks or Hayward are yet as good as Matt was in his prime, not even close.
