Anyone else hear that boom around 8:30 this morning? Sounds like it might’ve been a meteor exploding in the high atmosphere. It shook my house in Lehi.

Been a lot of fireballs of late. One is believed to have dropped meteorites in Indiana a couple of weeks ago, but I have not heard of any recoveries yet. If one can hear detonations, there is always a good chance something has reached the ground. Otherwise, most vaporize during entry.

We received 14 reports about a fireball seen over ID, UT and WY on Saturday, August 13th 2022 around 14:31 UT.
