What's new

Start Mitchell at the Point.

He’s a lot of fun when he’s on, but ya, not so much when he’s going 1-10

The problem this year is he's rarely on. And his defense is worse than last year and his decisions seem worse than last year. I just don't enjoy watching him this year. I really hope Exum beats him back then steals that job for good.

This is one of the only games all year I didn't feel we start the game at a disadvantage at PG to start the game.

A large majority of Mitchell's 3s are open or wide open.

He takes 6.8 3's a game. 84% of his shot attempts are open or wide open looks. 37% are wide open.

.1 are tightly contested (0% made)

1.0 are contested (21% made)

3.2 are open (34% made)

2.5 are wide open (36% made) (Rubio makes 37% of these, so Rubio shoots better than Mitchell on wide open shots)

He shoots 1.9 three per game in the last 7 seconds of the shot clock. Rubio shoots 1 in the last 7 seconds.

Rubio shoots 35% on catch and shoot 3's. Mitchell shoots 31%. Both attempt 2.9 per game.
100% of your stupid handpicked stats are irrelevant.Rubio is average as hell and Mitchell is a budding star. Rubio just ain't that good. He has been a professional player since he was 16 years old. Mitchell has been a pro for 1.5 seasons.

Against the best or worse competition, I have never seen us play like we did when led by Donovan last night. It was our offense ran to perfection. Rubio doesn't do that. After what I saw last night, Rubio should never start.

Handpicked? I just responded to what you said with facts about open shots and time on the shot clock.

The Jazz have a very interesting decision to make this offseason.
Yep - Rubio or Exum. Let the other go. Maybe Rubio can come back in the Neto role if he takes under $10.

Actually, I would make this decision at the deadline. There is no reason to keep Exum AND Rubio. Mitchell obviously needs the ball in his hands more. Many have been saying that all season, but now we know.

Trade Favors and Rubio before the deadline for a good SG, SF or PF.

The Jazz shot 40% from the field, but the offense was ran to perfection? It wasnt even close to the best offensive game of the season.

The Jazz had an offensive rating of 104. If they had an offensive rating of 104 every night, they'd have the 3rd worst offense in the NBA.

You said - "2.5 are wide open (36% made) (Rubio makes 37% of these, so Rubio shoots better than Mitchell on wide open shots)"

Basketball isn't as simple as you are making it out to be. Defenses give Rubio wide open looks. It is part of their plan. So he knows he gets free shots. Defenses don't give Mitchell open looks, he just gets open due to work, the offense, etc. DM has 10 less years of professional experience, doesn't know he is getting open looks like Rubio knows he will get, and Rubio shoots 1% better. But you say Rubio is a better wide open shooter.

That's a handpicked irrelevant stat. There is always a stat which can prove either side of a point. The truth is simple - last night our offense looked the best it has looked all season. Mitchell was more comfortable last night. There is no reason to force Rubio into being a guy he has never been consistently - offensively dangerous.

We aren't a contender with the current roster with Rubio starting. Roll with Donovan and maybe we have a superstar.

He just shot 12 threes in a NBA game...

And DM just put up 33/9 but some aren’t saying he should be a pg.

He’s a good shooter... he passes up the shot more often than I’d like. I don’t think he becomes a guy that creates for himself and others enough to be the main backcourt partner. He’s a decent passer... the ball handling and driving is a struggle... which is clearly what I was referring to as the issues.

It's hard to be as dumb as Lopo, I swear.
You don't have some obscure stat to prove that.

Cy, you aren't correct enough to be as condescending as you are. You lack the courage to risk anything so you would rather question the unknown, take personal shots, and stick with comfortable mediocrity.

A blind man can see that we actually had fun playing last night. Sure, you can find some stat which says we could play better here or there, but the game came easy to us last night. Our fun on offense led to effort on defense.
