Why's this in the jazz forum? Does curry play for the Jazz?

Keep GUESSING bro, that's what you do BEST.
Plus POR has 2 legit All Stars in Aldridge and Lillard.
GSW's hope is basically resting on Curry's bad ankle.

While Aldridge was an all-star, Lillard was only rookie of the year last year. McCullum is a rookie who has as bad of an injury past as Steph Curry. He will be out at least another month or so, and it will take him time to get acclimated. That is assuming he will make any difference at all. Like I said, he's a rookie. If he does make a difference, how far in the hole will they be.
Golden State has 2 former all-stars on their team as well, Andre Iguodala and David Lee. I think we both agree that Steph Curry is deserving of an all-star vote (probably more than Damian Lillard was last year). And Andrew Bogut has been a borderline all-star in the past as well, and maybe would have been by now if he was able to stay healthy (There is much less competition at C than PG).
Lets compare rosters now
PG Damien Lillard vs Steph Curry - We'll say its a wash (although I would give the edge to Curry assuming healthy)
SG Matthews vs Thompson- Advantage Thompson
SF Batum vs Iguodala - Advantage Iguodala
PF Aldridge vs Lee - Advantage Aldridge
C Lopez vs Bogut - Advantage Bogut
Portland 1
GS 3
Bench
Mo Williams vs Harrison Barnes - Advantage Harrison Barnes
After that, both benches are pretty weak.
Your argument that Golden State doesn't have the bench to compete is just as true for Portland. At least Golden State has a stronger team before you get to the bench. Now health has been a huge issue for Golden State, and if 1 or 2 players miss significant time, they are screwed. But the same can be said for Portland as well. Aldridge and Batum have missed some time the last few years.
Portland Missed the Playoffs last year and what did they add to their roster, Robin Lopez and Mo Williams... GS was 6th last year and added Iguodala.
Almost everyone has GS well above Portland, and for good reason. Now if you think Portland will surprise and have a much better season than expected, that's fine. But it is far from a given that they will be better than GS this year.
You forgot that GS lost Landry and Jack. Jack was a big reason for their success last year.

Good analysis.
Fluid situation
To me the situation isn't static, it's fluid. I'm factoring in the fact that Curry will miss some games, and McCollum would come back and play some games - Net positive to POR potentially.
What they did last Summer
Also I think GSW will miss Jarett Jack and Carl Landry greatly with the scoring punch they give off the bench.
On the other hand POR's addition of Lopez allows Aldridge to play his preferred PF position and just flat out SCORE which he was not able to do in years past.
X-Factor
Most importantly, after chasing the lottery the last 3 seasons, I do believe Paul Allen has given the team the green light to make the playoffs this year for the first time in ages. Why? I think he feels that they now have enough talent to compete for the title with 3 potential superstar on their team (Aldridge, Lillard, McCollum). That's the kind of critical mass you need to contend IMO.
X-Factor in my opinion will be health. If both stay healthy, GS has the advantage, but they have had players with more health concerns. Living in Portland, I don't think many Blazers fans would even say that Portland will be better than GS this year. You are entitled to your opinion, and it may end up coming true. I just think GS is better. I do hope you are right though. Would love to have GS pick end up around 17 instead of 24.
OH wow, I thought you're living in Singapore or something... LOL...
Yeah I know this prediction is one of the more "out there" predictions, but I really didn't like what GSW did in the offseason. Iggy is good. But they sacrificed many SOLID role players that pushed them to the top last year, namely Landry and Jack who both scored in the clutch last year numerous times.
The bench is so thin that I think they're 1 injury away from dropping out of the playoffs all together (Curry, Bogut, Lee, Barnes all had injuries in the past year).
I think that you and a lot of others overrate jack and landry.
They are journeyman role players that's it.
How are they doing for thier new teams?
Jack's with Cavs and Landry (injured) is with the Kings, so it's hard to gauge.
But I saw a lot of GSW games last year and I can't count how many times Landry came in and give them valuable buckets down low when they needed that scoring punch. Jack averaged 13pts, 5.6 assists off the benched, shooting 40% from 3's. Honestly I think he should have been considered the 6th man award last year.
Could have been the system/ supporting cast makin em look good as well.
I doubt jack is doing as good in cleveland
Well it's hard to say as we're talking about 2 different teams as you say.
Let's look at Jack's replacement in GSW then - Toney Douglas - he's averaging 4.2 pts and 2.0 assists VS Jack's last year numbers of 13 pts and 5.6 assists.

Until/unless someone gets hurt, they are definitely legit. The addition of Iggy is working well.
