Steve Kerr's Passionate Personal Stand on Gun Control

He was a professor in Beruit and was shot by Islamic extremists outside of his office. I don't think the murder would have been prevented by gun laws.
Wow. Crazy stuff. That sucks.
And I agree

In all seriousness, he misspoke about auto weapons. But is that any worse than the complete and utter misspeaking that the gun nuts of this country say on the norm?

For example, "gun control doesn't effect gun violence." Huh? Mountains of data from countries to our own very states prove otherwise. Industrialized countries with strict gun control have lower gun violence. Same thing with states. Look at the top 15 states for gun violence. They're all red states with lax gun laws.

"Gun laws don't work. They only punish good people while bad guys ignore laws." So asinine yet so common. Why have any laws on anything then?

"People would be safer if they were all packing." Anyone actually believe that bars and dance clubs full of drunk people packing heat would be safer than a bar or dance club full of drunks without?

"Gun are only tools. Just like a hammer or screwdriver." Does this really need to be explained?

So while we can make fun of Kerr's lack of understanding of gun anatomy, is it really any worse than the nonsense spewed by the NRA, republicans, and gun nuts on the norm after our bi-weekly slaughter of a church, school, or place of recreation?

Many firearms can be modified to make them automatic to some extent, including AR-15s.

While it's generally not good for the firearm, it's functional enough for one mass-shooting

Dala, could you give us any examples where this has actually happened?

There are already background checks on all commercially sold firearms in the U.S.. Even the ones sold at gun shows.

So 90% of America has what they want.

It's my understanding that Americans want more than this. From what I understand they desire extended background checks, wait times, and increased restrictions for potential threats.

Gun control works, period - just no argument about that. Until americans will realise it and fix it you will be a disgust to the rest of the world on the matter. Sorry my american friends you have a huge abscess on your face which is your stupid gun laws and until you lance it you will look ugly. See below what happened in Australia and argue that gun laws did not work.

Regardless of the unique challenges in the US, Obama is well aware of Australia's massive effort — and the subsequent decline in violence.

"When Australia had a mass killing … it was just so shocking the entire country said, 'Well, we're going to completely change our gun laws,' and they did. And it hasn't happened since,"

Diesel fuel and fertilizer can be modified to make a bomb. It's hell on the container, but it's effective for one terrorist act. Should we restrict them?

Hell, I can make a bomb with gunpowder and a few other ingredients. Better ban those too. And bleach.

The bolded part might be the funniest line I've ever read on this site. Well done!

BTW, Islamic extremists can be modified into smart (relatively speaking) bombs. Pretty much a one time trick per extremist, because they are always destroyed in the process, but they can do a ton of damage (particularly when a 747 is involved). Should we ban those?
