As @Gameface explained, that's pretty much impossible. Check the numbers again. The new tax bracket is your "marginal" rate, not your total rate, and only applies to the part of your income which put you into the new tax bracket.

Leave beer alone, he had to have some way to brag to everyone he makes a lot of money and not sound completely douchey at the same time. Complaining about taxes is something even simple people like you can relate to along with a rich person like him.

We’ll go with general numbers. Say someone went from 100k salary to 125k salary but their net paycheck was only $300 difference. Would that be weird and annoying?

And you are right I do have no idea how taxes work though. I do see my pay checks though. Maybe I f’ef up my W4.

And to @LogGrad98 if you think that’s a ton of money I feel bad for you.

I think 100,000 per year is a ton of money.

    I don’t think it’s a ton of money.

    Depends on perspectives no doubt.
I have never came close to 100,000 in single year for my household.

It’s also very relative. NJ is an expensive state in which to live. $100,000 here might be like $80,000 there.

Please quote where I said that any specific amount is "a lot" of money. I just pointed out that you wanted an excuse to brag about your raise and income, whatever amount that might be.

Not sure I’ve ever posted in this thread. I didn’t want to be “that guy” so I’ll post it here to vent my stupid pet peeve:

I get that most people are saying this as a joke, and one should just smile and move on even if it doesn’t make sense, but it’s been repeated so much that I think there’s an underlying belief in this being somewhat true. People talking about how they should have bought stock in Charmin, or stating that the toilet paper industry is the biggest winner of all this. Though there has been an increased demand in buying toilet paper, there hasn’t been an actual increase in demand for using toilet paper. The toilet paper companies aren’t make anymore money than normal, their sales are just being redistributed.

Close but not quite right. They are seeing a surge in sales right now over what they would normally expect at this time of the year. However since people in their homes won't actually use the toilet paper any faster, they just filled up a closet with it or whatever, then later the toilet paper companies will see a decrease in sales as people use their stockpile and do not buy any toilet paper until they need to when the crisis is over. So a surge now followed by a substantial drop in sales. In essence nothing will change for the TP companies in the long run, but for the next few months their sales will be out of whack compared to last year at this time. But in the end their total sales will only go up as much as they normally do from any given year to year period.

Since yesterday all the cafés and restaurants in Belgium are closed. But the borders with neighbouring Holland and Luxembourg are still open and those countries still do normal. So what do people here do? Go there of course as it's a short drive for many.. Is it really so ****ing impossible to survive two days without going to the café?? Don't they see what's going on in Italy and Spain? I really think that some people still don't buy into the concept of viruses and bacterias as they are invisible with a naked eye.
