Stupid Pet Peeves

Never knowing what to say when people pass me in the hallway and say "How's it going?" Are they really inquiring about my health and well-being? Or is that just a four syllable way of saying "Hi"?

This one is easy. It's the latter. Always. I've never asked anyone that question wanting to hear the answer.

It's a way of saying hi imo

Sometimes it is, certainly. But is it always? And if only sometimes, how do I judge? That's my pet peeve.
I know what you mean. And also, my answer is always the same.... I'm good how are you?
Even if I'm not good and idgaf how the other person is doing

It could be a way to start a conversation but I'd say never one regarding negative stuff. Like if someone asked you could say "Great, my daughter just got accepted to the U of U" or something positive like that. You'd never want to bring up anything negative like "My daughter is going to be attending BYU."

Funny man.

When someone says it while walking by you, it's high.

If you are sitting down and chilling, it's a legit question.

It's a two-lane street heading into a roundabout and they went straight.

I assume you were trying to make a left and that's why you were miffed? If not, why not use the right lane? I also don't know what the laws are in your state regarding bicycle travel on a two lane one way street. They might have been well within their right. Also, as stated earlier in this thread, it looks as though they might be tourists which would add another layer of confusion.

Colton, do you consider yourself one of those smarter than average folks who excel in the STEM subjects but are socially awkward? I mean, to list an informal salutation as a pet peeve is a little over the top in my opinion.

It's not rocket science. Pun intended. You could respond with, "Hi. Great. Thanks" or "Doing well. Thanks." and most folks would be fine with that. Don't over think it.

I'll add my own to this thread...

Slow Turners.

Like drivers who are turning into a driveway or another street and doing it as slow as they can. Be ****ing decisive!

No, not really. Most people really don't give a **** about the reply.
