To me he is an articulate Dutch, nothing more.
I agree that sometimes you have to take a stand. Absolutely. Where I disagree is that this stand must be team A or team B. Not liking one team says nothing, absolutely nothing, about ones feelings for team B.
I openly disparage and ridicule them both. To me trying to assign who the bigger group of assholes and degenerates is wasted effort. Do we really care that one mountain of **** is 5 miles high and the other is 20 miles high? Either way we drown in ****.
Yes, I hope the Ds take the House. Mainly to slow down the Rs. I wanted the Rs to take a house under Obama for the same reason. I have zero faith in either party. And loudly call for expanded parties and push people to break the R and D mold.
Is that itself not a stand. Enough ******** already.
Oh and don’t confirm Kavanaugh. He’s not the right person.
For me, if I am going to be true to myself, my values, and the policies I believe my government should be supporting, I really have no choice but to support the Democrats. One of my favorite commentators on current events, as well as interpretation of American history, is Tom Englehardt. I have, on occasion, posted some of his essays here, his Tomgrams, when I thought it would add a meaningful perspective. Like myself, he sees Trump's approach to climate change, and Trump's appointment of climate change deniers, and indeed anti-science individuals, throughout his administration, as one of his greatest "crimes". Indeed, Tom believes future generations will view Trump as having been guilty of crimes against humanity for his position on that one issue.
We only have one planet. Under Pruitt, Trump's administration basically was willing to sacrifice the health of present and future generations of Americans to the financial interests of the fossil fuel industry. I must admit I very much agree with Engelhardt in that respect.
So, while accepting that politicians will be politicians, regardless of which party they represent, at this time in my nation's history, I must oppose, with every fiber of my being, please excuse my over dramatization, if so it appears, the Republican agenda, and Trump's agenda. I do indeed look at this as a battle for future generations, of Americans, and future generations of humanity on this planet. The stakes simply could not be higher. The Democrats would not have pulled us out of the Paris climate accord, leaving us standing alone among nations. This, to me, is Trump's greatest crime. I realize politicians will be politicians, but under these circumstances, I must take this stand.
