What's new

Takes on the 1st and 2nd-year players....and progress if there happens to be any

Definitely not the rooks and the second year players we are talking about 2 games into the season. Not enough time to judge anything at this point.
Apparently it's not fair to assess 2nd year NBA players but it's totally logical to decide that a 17 year old Duke forward is the next big thing and worth destroying a whole season for.

If we can't talk about what young players might become, then we cannot talk about any draft prospects and can only talk about what players have done so far. What are we doing here? Of course we can discuss potential and what we think a player might become. A whole lot better than talking about what they are right now.

I just don’t think Key is a pg. I think it’s fine to try him there. It’s not one thing in particular but I’d like to see him play some with Collier or Mills more so he can go off ball a bit and have someone set him up.

I think Brice deserves more time. Even if it comes at the expense of my beloved Tay Henny. He’s rebounding and trying hard on defense. Has been weirdly good at jumping passing lanes. Needs a few more minutes to find his nba identity.

Williams will take a minute. He’s fine.

Taylor has been mostly fine. Shot like **** the last game.

Overall none of these guys are good enough to ruin the tank which is good and bad.

I want Collier back badly. He is a lot more fun than Patty.

The Rudy glazing on here was insane bud, half this forum are/were closet Wolves fans
I disagree

None of our guys were super high draft picks….the point of this season is to get a high draft pick. Some may see my view on the prospects as negative, but I actually think we’ve done ok given the position where we’ve drafted from.

Still, you can have consecutive top 5 picks and still not find that guy. HOU has had four in a row, and while it’s early and I like some them….none of them look like sure all stars. They took the guy they were supposed to take pretty each time as well.

The question for me is not about how good they are relative to where they were selected, it is how good of players are we getting relative to what we gave up to get them.

It's a fair perspective and a question we'll be asking ourselves for awhile. Mitchell and Gobert were very special players. While I don't think Lauri is quite on their level, we may face that dilemma once again.

Lot of doom and gloom like the rookies and second year players have reached their peeks already. Lmao. I told all of you this needed to be a 5-7 year rebuild. It doesn’t happen over night unless you want to just be average like we’ve done the last 25 years. The reason Danny hasn’t drafted top 5 ultimate superstars is because we are picking 9-10. That’s only partially on Danny because he should’ve sold off 90% of all the players they got in trade for Don And Gobert. But looks like we are on track this year. Now I’m praying for one of those famous Lauri knee contusions that take a month to heal then he can aggravate it for another month stint on the bench. We need a top 3 pick desperately then Danny can work his magic.

But in conclusion some of you sound like these first and second year players have already reached as good as they’re going to get. The reality is they haven’t even began to tap into their development yet, and I’m not saying these guys will be stars. It’s Danny’s fault we haven’t had higher picks but he hasn’t made bad picks. He just needs better picks. And we need to be bottom shelf for at least another three years and Markkanen and Sextin need to go.

Who said we can't talk about what young players might become? There is a difference between talking about what a player might become and passing judgement on a player a couple games into the season. Two games is not even close to enough time to know if our second year guys have improved and if our rooks are any good like some people want to do.

You did.
