Taylor Hendricks Hype Thread

Maybe. However, that's not quite my view. I can't be sure my memory is correct. But for Exum, it was only a a fall of 1, I think. I don't think there was any way he was going above Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid (though there were questions about the latter's health). I do think Gordon slid above him at the end, so if there was something from the workouts, it was probably just with Orlando. For TH, I don't really remember him being above about 7 in most mocks and I don't think anyone really thought there was much of a slide when he went #9.

Exum only dropped one spot, but iirc he was strongly considered in a tier where he would go top 4. We had #5, and I don’t think it was ever expected that he be available. TH was discussed more around here as a possibility at #9, but he definitely had some hype of going much higher.

In the end….I guess where I draw the comparison is that all teams that worked the players out passed on them. Your comment sparked that thought. Could be nothing, but I wonder if their rawness showed up in their workouts which cause teams to pass on them.

Apologies if this has been discussed before:

Wasn't Hendricks one of the guys we were unable to work out in person before the draft? If that's the case, do you think the Jazz evaluation on him would have differed going into the draft if they had gotten a more up-close look?
I mean the terrible workouts is much of the reason why GG and Cam Whitmore fell so hard. . .

Hardy had some nice things to say about Hendricks during his post-game press conference. I wrote about it below and I would love it if you guys gave it a read!

I think that was a nice piece. Well written and very professional.

As you listened through the press conference, did Hardy mention anything about Brice? I though he looked ok with his minutes early on, but then suddenly he got benched until garbage time.

No mention of Brice. No mention of anyone besides Hendricks really. It all depends on what the media, beat writers and reporters ask him.

First question was about how the defense managed to hold the Spurs to 48 points in the paint when they have Wemby.

Then a follow-up asking about Hendricks on offense.

Then he was asked what the whole goal is when they play zone defense and what they are trying to get out of it.

Might have missed something but that was the gist of it.

Brice actually came in with like 1:30 left in the 3rd and played some minutes at the beginning of the 4th. Hardy is playing a 9-guy rotation right now and Brice is the 9th guy currently.

I missed that stint somehow. Wasnt that locked in I guess. Just at the end when he came in with the clean up crew I felt like he hadn't been in for a while.

Loved the D on Wemby. He probably could have gotten called for a lot more fouls if Wemby was more seasoned in showing contact to the refs, but nonetheless it was good D.

The most interesting thing about Hendricks is too me is how much strength he can add and how much it can help his game. He just looks weak out there to me, but it wasnt an issue against Wemby.

Also, when he actually becomes a decent 3pt shooter, getting 6+ attempts per game is going to come fairly easily for him. He definitely likes to shoot it quickly.
