Yeah it's not rape unless it's against the boy's will or the woman uses a strap-on or something to get back at you. Or get back at your back in that case.
 
I think people are overreacting to the events that occur far away from them. Especially men should remember the number of female teachers they used to fantasize about when doing their thing. I don't know maybe it's the same for the women. These are the ages that teenagers are most unstable about the sexual experiences. There is no wrong in giving even death penalty to rape cases. But we have to remember that most of the time, there is something beyond what has been told. For example the statement that said about the male teacher that he got close to the family, gained their trust and exploited it makes me thinking about something else directly. Most of the time, the family or someone in the family sets things up. Or kid can egg him on. But the adult teacher has to stay solid against it and remember it's a crime. So no penalty would be unfair too. Setting an example is the right way. There are a lot of perverts in this world that will think of doing bad things to your children. They should be killed ten thousand times.

In my view, the age of consent is valuable in the scenario that it protects the child from consent. Young people, esp. young women, are very vulnerable in that there are older men with power over them. You see it with college girls. Young people don't have money, they need money: what's the way they can get it? Age-of-consent laws should protect young people from this at least until they're 18. But they're often over-zealously prosecuted, and wildly inconsistent; how many cases are there of a 19 year old getting in legal trouble for dating a slightly younger teenager, just because the parents don't like him/her, and want to prosecute? And then this 19 year old ends up on the sex-offenders list.

A lot of you seem to be insinuating that the male teacher is the one pursuing the female student. It's usually the other way around.

That doesn't excuse the teacher, he should still know that he can't be a dumbass, but the majority of the time, it's the female student chasing the teacher.
 
The 23 year old was not the student's teacher or coach, but worked at the same school and was the coach of the team the 17 year old tried out for and did not make the cut. Also the student and her family begged the judge to not make her serve jail time.

The 35 year old's case was completely different than this. The student and parents wanted jail time and the teacher was in a position of authority over the student.
