Ok, but I don't get why you highlighted the word "repeatedly"?
What's the significance of that?
17-18 year old kids are like rabbits.(I'm not suggesting they like carrots)

I can't think of a single female that likes carrots. Yet they dis lady's finger more. Eggplant or cucumber would be more of a preference.
I screwed a chick that was 28 when I was 16 while I was drunk on the alcohol that she purchased. I have no desire for justice.

iawtp. I also think statutory rape shouldn't apply to a 17 year old though. I've been with my old lady since before we were both 18 and even though we are less than a year apart I've always wondered if I had technically committed a felony repeatedly over that 8 month time span.
20 years is pretty extreme, in the case of a 17 year old. But I agree that teachers, especially high-school teachers, since they have so much power over their students, can't have relationships with them and there should be legal repercussions.
In my view, the age of consent is valuable in the scenario that it protects the child from consent. Young people, esp. young women, are very vulnerable in that there are older men with power over them. You see it with college girls. Young people don't have money, they need money: what's the way they can get it? Age-of-consent laws should protect young people from this at least until they're 18. But they're often over-zealously prosecuted, and wildly inconsistent; how many cases are there of a 19 year old getting in legal trouble for dating a slightly younger teenager, just because the parents don't like him/her, and want to prosecute? And then this 19 year old ends up on the sex-offenders list.
