Terrible movies.

Growing up, I loved watched Heman and Skeletor. A few months back, that 80s movie was on. I watched it for about 5 mins. That’s all I could take.

I remember seeing that at the local cinema when I was 5 or 6, back then we didn't have the big multiplexs we used to drive half an hour to another town to watch movies on a screen not that much bigger than my tellie now. Even when i was 5 I knew it was ****.

Its important to embrace all things of quality.

Nic Cage is one of the most interesting actors working imo. He makes so many movies its easy to get the impression that all his movies suck, because a lot of them legitimately do. I don't know that much about him, but I'd guess he either really loves to work or he needs the money, otherwise I don't know why he'd take on most of the projects he does.

But when he's on, he's ****ing on. Bad Lieutenant, Mandy, Face/Off, goddamn Wicker Man (joking).

I've heard good things about his new movie Color out of Space as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing it, good Lovecraft adaptations are hard to come by.

Its the sequel The Godfather 2 when they buy Sea World, from memory Marlon Brando plays a whale in it.

Yeah, okay, but there's a movie called "We Bought a Zoo" with Matt Damon. It's an unbearable chick flick based around a dude who buys a zoo.

Like, even some of the bad movies mentioned, there's cinematic goodness in them.

I'm willing to bet it's more movies not living up to expectations rather than movies being outright terrible in its creation.

Take Crystal Skull. It's bad, but the opening scene in the desert is mediocre, not terrible. The college scenes are decent. Calling out Indiana for grave robbing archaeology was GREAT. First half of the movie is inherently watchable.

Also Masters of the Universe is great...to watch with other people. Good journey.

I feel there's a good chance any movie listed would be chosen to watch by anybody here over a movie like Battlefield Earth.

The 2nd mission Impossible was pretty awful. The rest of the series has been awesome.

Also, the Village. I remember everyone loved that Director. And I think this was probably the first of his busts. I saw this movie once in theaters and haven’t seen it since.

Hm. It's been a while but I remember enjoying Bryce Dallas Howard's and Joaquin Phoenix's acting in this one. It's also rather beautiful to look at. I dunno, I've always felt like this movie was unfairly maligned. The "twist" was pretty obvious, but this is far from M. Night's worst.

Nah im pretty sure 'We bought a Zoo' is the American release title of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers cause they wanted to avoid controversy over the whole September 11 thing.

That's what makes this an interesting conversation. What movie you like is completely subjective, there is no objective measure of what makes a "good" movie. You could argue that if a movie was popular then it was good, but how do you explain the box office receipts of, say, star wars episodes 1-3. This is an infinitely arguable topic hence perfect for the internet.

Armageddon is so stupid it literally makes me angry. And anything else by Michael Bay, come to think of it. He took a wrecking ball to my childhood with those godawful Transformers movies.
