long running TV shows that are missing

Star Trek
Dr Who
Law and Order
South Park
Cheers
The Andy Griffith show
Happy Days
Nova(Not like the others but definitely deserves consideration)
Sesame Street
and a bunch more. I can't really pick a goat. If I really think about it though it's probably Sesame Street.

Cheers is the only one that you mentioned that would even make me think about being the best ever..... It still gets destroyed by seinfeld though.

Diane was just too annoying. Plus they had two major characters come and go which hurts its chances against these other greats

Seinfeld was a genius. It was such an amazingly written show. All these years later I still have almost daily situations that come up where I have to stop and laugh because it reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

Breaking Bad.

The orignial Twilight Zone series and season 1 of True Detective are my next two favorites.

Seinfeld is the best comedy of all time.

He and David each make 200M per year off residuals I've read.

Wow. A lot of TV guys in here since Seinfeld is rocking. I went with the Wire. Easy. Very different genres that hit very different spots though.

Breaking Bad and Seinfeld.

Seinfeld wins though because you could watch it over and over....and over...

Breaking Bad and Sopranos are pretty much neck and neck in the drama department.

Louie is one of the most innovative/compelling shows of all time. I'm not even sure how to classify it anymore - can't really call it a comedy.

As far as traditional comedies I'm gonna fly my geek flag and say Mystery Science Theater 3000 was the most consistently funny show I've ever seen.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete was the best children's oriented show I've ever seen.

I voted for "I Love Lucy" mainly for sentimental reasons - - plus it was the first and is still a standard by which others are judged

but Seinfeld is right up there IMO

I almost think there should be separate categories for 1/2 hour sitcoms and 1 hour dramas
