The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

I have been trying to communicate this over the last few years but Joe Rogan said better than I ever could.
I definitely feel politically homeless. You just look at DC with both parties and look at bills, policies or executive orders and think yeah that’s a great idea for less fee’s with airfare or tickets, I like that. Then the same side will come out and say:

It’s like they cant even give straight answers or tell the truth. Blame the other side while raising taxes on almost every American.

“Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) increased the standard deduction, lowered the corporate and estate tax rates and increased the child tax credit, among other things.”

This will hurt all the gig workers, sole proprietors and small businesses who are registered as a corporation.

We can’t even try to build on policy wins if it’s the other sides idea. I know people will say presidents don’t have the ability to control the economy, but extending this policy would help out millions of Americans, especially during this increased inflation time. Biden could get another win by doing the right thing.

The first president who actually cares about all Americans by creating modern social programs, future proofs our infrastructure, offers a modern education system, while cleaning up crime throughout our country would be loved by all.
Action can be seen, heard and felt.
It would take a lot of courage to stand up to their party, corporations and their donors while working with both sides.

Until then, this is how I feel.

Yep that's me as well. People think I'm a Democrat or a lefty just because I hate trump/maga.
I'm anti immigration. I have guns and grew up hunting everything and very religious. Pro police. (I'm the guy who will answer a cops questions when I get pulled over even though everyone says I shouldn't) I drive a gas guzzler
About the only thing I can really think of that I lean left on policy wise is pro choice. And even with that one I'm anti abortion.... Just pro choice.

I never voted for a Democrat in any election local or nationally prior to trump running for office.

I don't ever watch CNN or any news network actually. I listen to KSL 1160 (I think they are conservative) for my news and go to Yahoo.

I think Biden sucks and both my wife and I had him way at the bottom of our lists in the 2020 democratic primaries.

I guess my political home is simply trump hater. Never trump. Which makes complete sense to me. I can't understand in any way at all how anyone could actually want him to be president. I can kind of understand someone who is a hardcore Republican who votes for Trump just because they can't ever vote for the Democratic. Like they reluctantly vote for Trump. I can understand that. But people who actually want him to be president more than all other Republicans? I just can't understand

I love this idea that Trump is clever despite all evidence to the contrary.

He never beat the market with all the money daddy gave him and yet he's supposed to be a brilliant business man.

He's supposed to be a world class deal maker but the best deals he ever made was stiffing people and declaring bankruptcy.

He's a media wiz yet he only gets less and less likable and less support the more he opens his mouth.

He loves America so much yet he's been the most destructive force in the U.S. over the last several years.

2+2 clearly equals 5
This is a major factor going into this fall. A decent segment of the population has completely memory holed the disastrous economy of 2020, the leadership that told people that the “China Virus” would magically go away by Easter, and was everyday in our faces pissing us off. I think the closer we get to the fall and the more attention Trump gets, the better off Biden and the Dems will be. Trump is deteriorating, his rhetoric is becoming worse, his vision for America is too dark and extreme, and I think he’ll remind enough people this summer why they voted for Biden in 20 and why they’ll vote for him again this fall.

These are “conservative principles?”

I think one of the biggest issues we have today is that Trump has attracted and brought in so many low info, bored, and (culturally aggrieved) voters into the GOP that it doesn’t even know what actual conservatism is anymore. He’s empowered a bunch of kooks and racists, people who normally aren’t participating in our democracy (but think they know how it works) because they can buy a red hat or have been educated at Tucker U. A generation of Americans seem to think that tariffs against China, counter majoritarian, blatantly racist and corrupt, pro authoritarianism with a theocratic edge, is conservative. Pretty funny for those of us who either grew up under Reagan or have studied or remember conservative politics from pre 2016.

Anyone else remember Reagan’s sunny optimism of America being awesome (not America sucks and needs to be made great again)? Anyone remember personal responsibility rather than always excusing every bad behavior as, “whatabout?” Anyone remember when Reagan’s GOP supported free markets? Wanted immigrants to come to America because immigrants are economic and cultural pluses? The fact that Reagan would be seen as a limp liberal cuck by this modern day “know nothing” GOP just tells you everything about this Frankenstein monster that Trump and right wing outrage media has created. Some are getting rich off of all the grifting of the rubes!

Sterling, the chief operating officer for the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, is part of an effort begun after the last presidential election that seeks to bring together Republican officials who are willing to defend the country's election systems and the people who run them. They want officials to reinforce the message that elections are secure and accurate, an approach they say is especially important as the country heads toward another divisive presidential contest.

Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, continues to sow doubts about the last presidential election and is warning his followers — without citing any evidence — that Democrats will try to cheat in the upcoming one.
This past week, during a campaign rally in Michigan, Trump repeated his false claim that Democrats rigged the 2020 election. “But we’re not going to allow them to rig the presidential election,” he said.

Just 22% of Republicans expressed high confidence that votes will be counted accurately in November, according to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll last year.

“It’s an obligation on Republicans' part to stand up for the defense of our system because our party -- there’s some blame for where we stand right now,” said Kentucky's secretary of state, Michael Adams, who is part of the group and won reelection last year. “But it’s also strategically wise for Republicans to say, ‘Hey Republicans, you can trust this. Don’t stay at home.’"

“It’s about democratic principles at a higher level –- what does it mean to be a conservative who believes in democracy, the rule of law?" said Matt Germer, director of governance for the R Street Institute and a lead organizer of the effort.

“You can be a Republican and you can believe in all the Republican ideas without having to say the election was stolen,” Germer said.

Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, a Republican who is the state’s top election official and has been participating in the group's discussions, said avoiding criticism of other states and vouching for the legitimacy of election procedures is important for another reason: It can help reduce the threats and harassment directed toward election workers.

A recent survey by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University's Law School found that nearly 40% of local election officials had experienced such abuse. It's caused many to leave their jobs. Of 29 clerks in Utah, Henderson said 20 are new since 2020 and nine have never overseen an election.

“It’s one thing to suggest that someone could do something better. It’s another thing to impugn their integrity, their character, accuse them of cheating, accuse them of nefarious things that don’t happen,” Henderson said. “It’s exhausting.”

You’re not alone. Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney aren’t liberals and they’ve both gone on record to say they’re voting for Biden this fall. One doesn’t have to love Biden to vote against Trump. Many Educated conservatives understand this and it’s caused them to re-evaluate their own party. I think what awaits to be seen is if all the low info angry and paranoid zombies Trump has brought into the party actually turn out regularly. Since 2018 the answer has been “No.” well educated, moderate, and engaged voters have decidedly voted for Democrats. Women, the burbs, and college educated voters that were Bush and Romney voters have been put off by Trump’s vulgarity and MAGA’s extremism. No thinking person wants to be in a political party with zombies like some posters here who worship Trump’s bowel movements. we’ll see in 2024 how far the parties have reconfigured.

Just look at how Governor Cox (a pretty conservative gov in his own right) was treated by his party’s caucus the other weekend. The party is crazy. Too extreme!

1:30-3:30 “maybe you hate that I just don’t hate enough”

That’s MAGA right there. No amount of judges or legislative wins will ever satisfy low info voters who “feel” angry (because they’re bored as **** and want to attack fellow Americans)

Hadn't seen that video. Good stuff
He should have just walked up to the mic and said, isn't trump great? I sure do love trump. And then basked in the cheers that would surely follow
