What's new

The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

Her saying we need to regulate speech and mandatory gun buybacks isn’t enough for you that’s fine. If this is your new standard, I will be happy to use it on all your posts.
**** Kamala said once upon a time that she will have zero power to make happen as POTUS.

Sorry if that isn't the info I'm basing my vote on.

Multiple times and recently, same with her running mate. You can downplay it because she is your candidate and that’s fine. Others take it seriously.

Expanding the court, getting rid of the filibuster, open borders, the economy, there is much more to not like about her.

It’s not like she is even close to a great candidate.

It already gets used on my posts. Where do you think I got it from silly goose.
trump doesn't use the same words as Hitler because trump doesn't speak German don't ya know?

Btw, do you hate that the FCC bleeps out swear words when songs are played on the radio? I don't. I love that my daughter doesn't hear them.

Does the fcc bleep out swear words on Apple Music?

I agree she isn't great candidate. I was never expecting a great candidate. Great is a pretty high bar for someone I'm voting for instead of Trump.

I'd vote for a rotten bologna sandwich made from both the heel pieces of bread with the crusty part on the inside before I'd vote for Trump.

Kamala has a pulse and doesn't want to be a dictator. Boom! Done. More than I was expecting.

I honestly understand why you are voting the way you are. I find fascinating the left can’t recognize independents or individual thinking. It really is “you’re with us or you’re mag”. There is no in between with the left.

Exactly! That's a great point. Sometimes the government censors some things and doesn't censor other things and it's ok. You hear her talking vaguely about censorship. Her just having a thought and conversation about it. And you jump to the worst case scenario you can think of. You won't be able to say anything anywhere ever again! She will abolish free speech.
In actuality it may be nothing at all or something very mundane.

Also trump https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th...024/oct/10/trump-cbs-license-harris-interview

America’s top broadcasting regulatory body, the Federal Communications Commission, has denounced Donald Trump after the former US president demanded that CBS be stripped of its licence for airing an edited answer in a primetime interview with Kamala Harris.

He also called the network a “threat to democracy” and targeted other broadcasters for having their licences revoked also. (Is this anti free speech?)

On Monday, Trump complained about pushback to a proposal to sentence people to a year in jail for burning the American flag.

“I wanna get a law passed […] You burn an American flag, you go to jail for one year. Gotta do it — you gotta do it,” Trump said.

“They say, ‘Sir, that’s unconstitutional.’ We’ll make it constitutional.”

Any issues with that @Bucknutz

Finally, I made a good point.

But before I continue on with this discussion, I want you to watch the full clip of that Cheney clip and actually tell me what he was talking about.

It we can’t be honest about that then we can’t move on.

Yes I do have issues with both sides of burning the American flag.

I don’t believe penalties are warranted but at the same time I have no respect fire someone who does it.

Trump admin gags social media use
January 20
National Park Service employees receive an email directing all Department of Interior bureaus to "immediately cease use of government Twitter accounts until further notice."

The gag order arrives hours after the official National Park Service Twitter account retweeted photos comparing the Trump inauguration to the 2009 Obama inauguration. The tweet was quickly removed and the Twitter account issued an apology the following day.

Trump speaks at the CIA headquarters and references his distaste for the media several times. His quotes include:
“I always call them the dishonest media, but they treated me nicely.”
“And the reason you’re my first stop is that, as you know, I have a running war with the media. They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth.”
“And I turn on—and by mistake I get this network, and it showed an empty field. And it said we drew 250,000 people. Now, that’s not bad, but it’s a lie.”
“So we caught them, and we caught them in a beauty. And I think they’re going to pay a big price.”

The Trump Administration issues multiple gag orders to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service, and Department of Health and Human Services, effectively ceasing the agencies’ communication with the press and the public.

PEN America issues a statement countering the gag orders, calling them “incompatible with American democratic values of government transparency and the public’s right to know.”

President Trump appoints Ajit Pai as the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Pai is noted to be an opponent of the FCC's net neutrality regulations, a set of rules that require internet providers such as Verizon and Comcast to provide the same level of service to all websites and apps. Pai has described the regulations as a "mistake."

Six journalists arrested and charged with felonies
January 24-25
The Guardian reports six journalists covering protests near the Trump inauguration parade have been arrested and charged with felony rioting.

PEN America issues a press statement warning that the arrest of journalists covering protests in Washington, D.C., “is an alarming encroachment on the right of the press to document public demonstrations.”

Trump Administration halts nuclear whistleblower protection
January 24
The Department of Energy temporarily halts an Obama Administration regulation that had prohibited federal nuclear contractors from retaliating against whistleblowers. The Department states that the change is in response to President Trump's "plan for managing the Federal regulatory process at the outset of the new Administration."

Following public backlash over news of the gag order, BuzzFeed reports that they have obtained an email sent to the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service which states that the gag order on the department "is hereby rescinded" and should not have been issued.

Reuters reports that employees of the Environmental Protection Agency were ordered by the Trump Administration to remove a page detailing climate change and scientific global warming research from its website. The order is later suspended following backlash from the public.

This goes on for a while and I don't have the time. Bye.

This is where you should simply say that burning the flag is protected by the first amendment and therefore what trump is proposing goes against the first amendment and is unconstitutional and you should be outraged.

But I see you. If the things you don't like are going to no longer be protected then you won't really complain.

Oh I know what he said. He thinks if soldiers go to war then she should go to war and get guns pointed at her.

Why her specifically? Why not all of the people involved with the decision to go to war? Only the ones who have criticized him should have to go to war I'm sure. Also, did she enlist? Soldiers enlist in the military with the knowledge that going to war might be the outcome of enlisting.

Trump wrote on Truth Social "The writer of this pile of garbage, Gabe Sherman, a lowlife and talentless hack, who has long been widely discredited, knew that, but chose to ignore it,” Trump added. “So sad that HUMAN SCUM, like the people involved in this hopefully unsuccessful enterprise, are allowed to say and do whatever they want in order to hurt a Political Movement, which is far bigger than any of us. MAGA2024!” The Trump campaign also threatened a lawsuit.

Abbasi (director of the film) caught wind of Trump’s reaction to his movie and issued a response on X, writing: “Thanks for getting back to us, Donald Trump. I am available to talk further if you want.

At the film’s press conference the following morning, Abbasi offered to meet with Trump in person and to screen “The Apprentice” for him.

“I don’t necessarily think that this is a movie he would dislike,” Abbasi said at the time. “I don’t necessarily think he would like it. I think he would be surprised, you know? And like I’ve said before, I would offer to go and meet him wherever he wants and talk about the context of the movie, have a screening and have a chat afterwards, if that’s interesting to anyone at the Trump campaign.”

Oh cute. We’re back to playing that linguistic game of “Donald Trump didn’t exactly say (insert whatever horrible thing). He merely mostly said it but kept it within plausible deniability so therefore he shouldn’t be held to account.” We’re back to circa 2017-2020 of sanewashing his words.

“He don’t literally cheer for nazis. He just said that there were very fine people on both sides where nazis brutally murdered a woman with their car after a night of intimidating chants of “Jews will not replace us” and “blood and soil.””

“He didn’t literally ask Russia to help him. He merely said that if Russia was listening, the media would find the DNC’s hacked emails to be interesting.”

“He didn’t specifically tell Cohen to pay off Stormy Daniels, he just asked him to make the problem disappear.”

“He didn’t literally mean for Jan 6 people to hang Mike Pence. He just bitched nonstop for months saying that the election had been stolen and that his followers needed to fight like hell or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.”

“He didn’t call for Kaepernick to be harmed. He just told owners to get that son of a bitch off the field.”

“He didn’t threaten Zelensky, he just asked him for a favor while also talking about military aid that they really needed.”

“He didn’t cheat Georgia. He just asked that their Sec of State find him just the specific amount of votes to win the state by one vote.”

“He didn’t brag about sexually assaulting women. He was joking around, locker room talk!”

“He didn’t call for Cheney or Miley to be killed. He’s just on the record publicly calling them to be tried for treason, brought before a military tribunal, and threw in guns cuz he’s like so anti war and stuff…”

I mean, the list goes on and on and on and on and on. Here’s his latest:

Now why would he be saying that? What’s he hinting at here? What would Tyson do to Harris? Have tea together? What’s Mike Tyson known for? What happens in a boxing ring? Is this yet another case of Donald “protecting women whether they want it or not?” Wouldn’t be the first time Donald has “protected” a woman. We’re up past 20 last I checked.

I know it’s too much to ask for trumpers and Mr Jimmy Clean hands to be honest here, but no amount of depravity has scared you off Trump. And nothing will. But maybe the rest of us normal people don’t want a president who jokes around about this stuff? Maybe we don’t want such a poor communicator who’s always saying things that can easily be misconstrued for malicious intent? Just stop trying to justify your vote. Admit that you hate Harris and Democrats more than you’re offended by Trump’s racism, vulgarity, and depravity.

Cohen said it best, Trump likes to speak in code. His followers get it. Only useful idiots and those in complete denial don’t hear it
