The man who lit himself on fire outside Manhattan court during former President Donald Trump’s “hush money” trial Friday has been identified by police as Max Azzarello, a Florida man who describes himself online as an “investigative researcher.”
At the top of the site is an article with the headline “I have set myself on fire outside of the trump Trial,” followed by a rambling manifesto riddled with conspiracy theories on everything from cryptocurrency and Hollywood actors to COVID and former President Bill Clinton.
“My name is Max Azzarello, and I am an investigative researcher who has set himself on fire outside of the Trump trial in Manhattan,” the nearly 2,700-word posting begins.
“This extreme act of protest is to draw attention to an urgent and important discovery: We are victims of a totalitarian con, and our own government (along with many of their allies) is about to hit us with an apocalyptic fascist world coup.”
His LinkedIn profile picture features a picture with Bill Clinton, whom he sued last year in a conspiracy theory-tinged case with more than 100 other individuals which was later thrown out.

It’s better to have it than not but this is frustrating. What was all the delay for? We could’ve given Ukraine this aid 6 months ago. It certainly didn’t help the GOP politically. It’s just really frustrating how our country is held hostage by a few losers in the House who are addicted to outrage porn on Fox News. If Fox News didn’t exist, this aid would’ve been approved long ago.
I agree that it is extraordinarily frustrating. Many of the very recent missile attacks that specifically targeted civilians, including a number of "double tap" missile attacks that are done specifically to kill first responders, could have been prevented if this aid had been delivered 6 months ago. That part is just horrible. What is even more frustrating, not because of the soldiers lives because in war it should be the soldiers who die, but because we delayed aid many Ukrainian soldiers died who absolutely did not need to. Russia has many many times the number of soldiers. Each Ukrainian soldier is worth 10 Russian soldiers or more, and I don't mean that in the positive, I mean that the cost to Ukraine to lose 1 soldier is more detrimental to their fight than it is to Russia if 10 or even 20 Russian soldiers die. Those soldier will not be there in future battles. Those soldiers will not benefit from this needlessly delayed aid.
