The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

You might not agree with him on everything but you certainly can’t argue with the results.
On that, you and I agree. You can't argue with the results. The economy is garbage right now.

People are pulling the jobless claim number and claiming it is something it isn't to disguise how bad the economic miss was. Economists had forecast a gain of 550,000 jobs but the economy only added 210,000 jobs. That is bad. It comes on the heels of the admission that inflation is far less "transitory" than had been previously forecast and is outpacing wage growth meaning American workers are getting paid less when adjusted for inflation.

What the jobless claims number signifies is that the Biden administration has realized how wrong they were. This is exactly like the recent decision to reinstate the remain-in-Mexico policy. Dismantling it led to problems they wildly underestimated. Similarly, throwing cash at people led to problems they wildly underestimated. Throwing cash at people didn't even boost his approval numbers. The jobless claims number represents the number of unemployed people the government is paying. That the number is at a 52 year low doesn't indicate the economy is booming but rather that the government is closing off the 'free money' tap. It is a much needed step to get the economy going in the right direction but it is not an indication that Biden can party under a 'Mission Accomplished' banner. The economy is still really sick and it is going to get markedly worse when the Fed turns off the tap as they are going to have to do to get inflation back down to the 2% target.

My 401k has been never better and I’m loving the liberal judges. So all is well for me.

No argument here. 401k's are up along with bread, milk, gas, houses, etc. Inflation is indeed good at increasing the number of dollars a thing is worth.

As for the liberal judges, I'm surprised. I had thought you'd be unhappy with Stephen Breyer's decision to stick around.

There are more judges than just those found on the SCOTUS.

Housing prices have been skyrocketing in utah for over a decade and the few pennies I’m paying more for gas is nothing compared to how much wealthier I am with my 401k.

Can’t argue with the results. All that matters is my 401k and judges.

We are gaining jobs instead of losing them. I mean we were losing millions per day in 2020! Wow!

Unemployment is down, wages rising, and my personal bubble is fine.

Now? We’re gaining jobs and I’ve never been better off. I’m just not tired of this winning.

The radiating of such positivity is something the world needs more of. There is more bright side than the torrent of hate, fear, and negativity we are deluged with on a daily basis. Kudos for making the world a tiny bit brighter.

I have made more money this year at my job than any other year in my 19 years at my company. Which isnt all that much tbh. About 80,000. Still a decent amoint more than ever before. Plus all the money i got from stimulus money and child tax credits each month. So now i also have more in savings than i have had in about 10 years. Again, thats also not much (2500) but still way more than normally. I usually live paycheck to paycheck but this year i have actually been able to put away a few hundred each month.
My 401k is also doing great.

I’m just happy that fluffers are finally receiving fair pay and representation after being undervalued for so long.

I’ll not argue one way or another. I’ll just say I have been coming across points of view like that expressed in this piece in The Hill, which seem way different….

I did read that piece in The Hill and it made me question what The Hill is. That piece is DNC propaganda and The Hill doesn't hide the ball on what it is. At the bottom of the page is the line "[The author] Max Burns is a Democratic strategist", and at the top of the page is "THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY CONTRIBUTORS ARE THEIR OWN AND NOT THE VIEW OF THE HILL". This piece is an advertisement crafted to look like news.

I don't usually read header and footer lines but I did a double take when seeing it presented some things that I knew were blatantly untrue. Start with the tag line of the article claiming "the fastest economic recovery in history". Do you really believe that in all recorded history no leader has ever delivered a faster economic recovery? It isn't true even if you're only looking at American history. The example that immediately comes to mind is the so-called 'Forgotten Depression' of 1920-1921. Kudos to The Hill for including the header and footer lines I guess, but it does make me wonder how many people read that piece and didn't realize what they were reading. It makes me wonder how many pieces I've read and didn't realize what I was reading.

Kind of reminds me of how tucker carlson was being sued and his defense in court was basically that he is an entertainer rather than a journalist so no one should actually believe what he is saying. Yet so so so many people take what he says as fact and truth (my dad being one).

The Biden admin got a lot of grief a few months ago (rightfully so) for their lack of prepping over Afghanistan’s collapse. But considering how the previous guy is the one who demanded american troops leave…

Well…

Just read the story. Nothing happens in a vacuum:
