The Cure for Cancer. (the dumbed down version)

I got my bone scan report emailed to me on Monday. I haven't heard anything back from any doctors though even though I called my doc's office to follow up. You'd think they would have contacted me by now.
The results, from what I could understand, seem great - so that's good. It says that I have a benign tumor/lesion in my hip. I'm not sure what treatment is for it, or if it's even required. I just know I'm tired of my hip hurting, feeling weak, interrupting my sleep and taking 2 bathes a day to help alleviate the pain.

Also, I'm guessing I don't need the MRI right now, but it's nice to know my insurance company denied it.

Look, the scan required some heavy element in circulation to give the pic shape... Ba is often used, dunno what it was for you, but it's some damn foreign elemental chemical, and it's a huge job to clean it up and get it out and flushed down the toilet into our future water supply.

It is likely going to be a while until you are really back to normal. I feel so sorry you had to go through it, but at least it sounds like you won't hafta be doing chemo and crap..... enjoy the next year or two extra to make up for the misery. Do some fun stuff, just go easy on the hip or whatever else hurts.

So you give me hope more people will decide to insist on running their medical care first-hand. To hell with the experts.
 
Just an update on everything.

I met with my doc about the bone scan. He referred me to an orthopedic. I met with him and he ordered an MRI. I had the MRI last Wednesday and met with the doctor for the results on Friday. He diagnosed me with Padget's Disease of the bone and said I also have a significant tear to my anterior superior left hip labrum. He referred me to another surgeon. Met with that surgeon today and scheduled surgery for my hip next Thursday, but before he'll operate he wants me to meet with a tumor specialist. I'll meet with the tumor guy on Monday and hopefully next week I can start feeling better. This has been such a long, tiresome, and mentally and physically draining process. I'm glad I finally have answers now though.

Sounds expensive too. You required to pay a co pay each time you go see the different doctor that you get referred too? Gonna get bills in the mail as well for all the mri and scans and visits etc?

It is. I've been told to call a lawyer for malpractice and failure of the radiologist to diagnose or catch the tumor when it was on the scan. Also for the specialist that didn't treat me and referred me to a pain psychologist.

I have insurance, and it helps, but the whole process is a joke. I haven't even written half of the **** I had to deal with to get to this point. The medical system is one hell of a way to make money.

Yup. It sucks big time
 
We'll look back on the way we treated cancer and kick ourselves. It's so barbaric. They either cut it out of you (surgery), burn it out of you (radiation) or inject you with poison and take you to the brink of death and let your body heal itself back to normal (chemo). Thankfully I've only had surgery and radiation.

It actually stacks up as world class. Every system has it's problems but results are what matters, and ours are world leading in many aspects. Japan has a similar style system as far as I can tell and they're at the top with us on curing several types of cancer.

Many Americans want something like a limit on drug companies not being able to sell drugs in the US for any more than they do elsewhere. That would lower an $80 pill to maybe a buck or two in many instances. You know what that would do to the costs around the rest of the world? They'll skyrocket and you will all be blaming us for not subsidizing your HC.
