Getting a flu shot will prevent you from getting a certain type of flu but doesn't mean it will protect you from other types.

My wife always tells me to do it and says something like... " the flu this year is really bad". I asked her if there was ever a good flu year... like people were getting it and felt like they had a ton of energy but just some mild sniffles... she did not appreciate the tone of my response.

**** me. I get sick every winter probably two times. My son's flu symptoms were a wicked terrible cough, body soreness, painful congestion and a fever. He said it was about the sickest he's ever been. He's almost 17. Lasted about 5-7 days for him. I have all of the above but it's not too bad, only about a 5 on the scale. 10 being about 10 years ago when I had double pneumonia before realizing my breathing was gurgling and going to the doctor. Almost got hospitalized on that one. My daughter has symptoms but she's really not feeling too bad. I think the flu shots are helping us. Oh and my wife doesn't have it yet. She seems to be the healthiest so maybe she won't.

I got sick for 5 straight years every Jan with the flu. One time it became pneumonia. Plus every few months I’d get sick for a few days with a sore throat. Then, 3 years ago I got my tonsils out. I think I’ve gotten sick with a cold/flu maybe once or twice? Best decision ever. If only something could be done about age and weight gain? Due to age and job changes, I sit around a lot more and gain weight easier. Also don’t have as much time or energy for the gym as I once did. Sigh
